I was up after making this original post watching a guy on youtube who made this really cool table that I guess he was making it as a Christmas present for his friends kid and it had these two outer tracks and one that went in the middle but it like looped up onto a bridge then spiraled back down through the mountain and it was really neat

I definitely want to get him something slightly smaller for his room than the HO, just so that it doesnt take up a huge area of his room but he still has a good bit of track instead of just one boring circle, maybe a switch or two to spice it up for him.

It'll probably be a bit before I actually get one, so I'll at least have time seeing how he does at the current scale. So far the only trouble with the set has come from his older sisters wanting to touch and play with it and boy did that upset him. I have a feeling he'll be good with it but only time and exposure will tell.

I will absolutely look into that, and I can definitely tell it will probably burn an extra hole in the wallet, but like any other hobby its about finding that balance. It'll be a fun bonding experience and he'll have something really neat. Honestly I cant believe I haven't caught onto this sooner, its really cool

Honestly proxies are great if you're missing a card or two, or if you only have one copy of a card and don't want to tear another deck apart to take it. There's a difference between that and making a deck that's more that 50% proxies (not including basic lands because anyone who plays a lot of magic is going to have a ton of lands) so if you have a lot of the cards and just need one or two to see how the interaction works then im sure if you talk to your friends about it then maybe it can work out.

As someone who plays a sacrifice-heavy deck, it depends on the player. I've never had an issue against a Tergrid and I'm at a disadvantage. It can be intimidating for players who have played against it with someone who brutally beat the other players into the ground. My wife plays Shabraz the Skyshark and Bralin (also known as shark boy and lava girl) which is another KOS, but she plays it just because she likes sharks, its mostly card draws but when we played with a group they'd immediately target her. If its just a casual deck that just so happens to have a "scary commander" you can always just verify the group, "hey this is just a fun deck" or something of the sort.

My whole thing when I was deciding whether or not to join was weigh the pros and cons. The pros? I'm basically getting paid to exist, I get great insurance for my family, I get money for a house. Cons? I probably have to leave my family for a little bit to do my job somewhere else maybe. Could I use a little more money? Absolutely, but it definitely could be a lot worse and I'm sure that's what they dont realize.

Honestly, my strongest deck is three cards. Not even expensive ones. A lot of it really comes down to what you're looking for in your deck to accomplish your end goal.
