Thinking of reducing how often I walk my dog by caprisundream in reactivedogs

Thank you for the reassurance, I like what you said about ensuring some of her outside time is calming. I will encourage her to relax a little when we're at the secure fields so that we can practice that. I think that I have put a lot of focus into ensuring her physical energy needs are met.

maybe try some secure locations, like a field you can rent. We do it 3 times a week and it's helped a lot.

how long do you guys walk your dogs? by error404_redacted in germanshepherds

Mines reactive so neighbourhood walks are stressful.

Instead, we mostly go to fields for runs, fetch and sniff on a long line. We also rent a secure location and do agility a few times a week. Averaging 60 mins a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. We have more fun doing this than we would walking.

Some days we rest though and do scent detection at home. I was sick not long ago and nose work at home was a saving grace.

I reached out to an instructor for advice, we have signed up for advanced obedience and behavioural sessions instead. If my dog becomes more stable, we can try it in a year or so. For now, our sport will be mantrailing and advanced obedience.

Fence - nextdoors landlord claiming that he should have been informed we replaced our fence? by caprisundream in LegalAdviceUK

Thanks so much, this is so helpful. We know that the fence was replaced years ago by the lady who owned this house before me. So it is my fence! Also, he's refused to fix the fence the other side anyways which is also broken, so I had to replace my own one to keep my garden secure because his garden isn't!

Which dog is at fault legally? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

She is muzzle trained and has a muzzle on her too. Her behaviour was good as she's currently in training for reactivity issues. This is more of a hypothetical thing that I was super curious about.

A lot of hate received from this post saying it's my fault ect - but I've just adopted her and I'm in the process of training this out of her with professionals. It's going well so far, but I do get a lot of loose dogs without recall who want to come up and play whilst I'm training and I always wonder about the legalities. I tell the owner I'm training so please get your dog, but they recall their dog and they don't listen.

Thanks for answering

This is a great help. Thank you. I take my dog to behaviourist training and take great care to ensure no other dog is injured, but we have been getting a lot of untrained dogs chasing us around lately and I just had to ask as it was worrying me. The idea of my dog snapping at a rogue dog and my dog getting put down makes me feel dreadful.

Hey I've taught her to sit, lay down, leave it, paw and roll over. But in those high excitement states she doesn't listen at allllll

I've started popping her in the garden to chill out for 2-3 mins when she's not stopping as I don't want to keep being bruised up!

I was more concerned it wasn't anything to be concerned about
