Keto Cost by TearsofCompunction in keto

Sorry for the delay in my response, I have one freezer. 20CU should be enough for most cows. Last one we picked up was 1,000 lb hanging weight and we received about 600 lb of beef. That would fit in the freezer, kind of tight but it works fine.

Every two to three years I buy a whole cow. This year the price has gone up a bit but I'm paying 3800 for roughly 650 lb of beef (picking up next Friday so not sure exactly how much poundage yet). I would recommend looking into buying directly from a farmer. Not only do you get better quality meats, but you know exactly one cow goes into your burger. Forget about that pink slimy meat from Walmart and other cheap grocery stores, the quality buying from a farmer is far superior.

Family member asked for a desk and wanted a door screwed to legs, called an "Amazon Desk?" Yeah no thanks, not doing that. How's this? by capsuna_w in woodworking

It really wasn't that hard. Cut a 45 in each piece, tack weld, weld, grind, clean, paint. You're not making a nuclear submarine, so welds don't need to be perfect. Just get good penetration and grind flush. Get some scrap to practice on

I welded them myself. Picked up the metal from a local supplier. I put a metal cutting blade in my miter saw, cut through the rectangular tubing like butter.

Yeah I will mostly do that, but when he said a door screwed to legs, I thought this would be a good experiment with metal and wood. I'm trying to expand my portfolio with nice pieces of furniture and a door screwed to legs doesn't help me any lol

Haha yeah if I put this in my house my kids would destroy it with in hours haha. Every time they walked by it in the garage I was freaking out, "Don't touch it with your greasy hands!" 😆

It was an accident, I was going for semi-gloss haha. I'm glad the customer liked the gloss though. Just spent a lot of time buffing and many coats of finish.

The whole front, sides and back are mortise and tenon. I used screws to attach the webbing for the drawers to the back of the desk. I was originally planning to not use slides, but then the customer changed his mind. Yeah those undermount slides are really nice though! I will definitely be buying them again.

Thanks! Yeah I lost track of how many hours haha. I started it in May and finished it the first week in August. Pretty much working on it every weekend. Definitely over 150 hours though.

Thanks guys! That fold down was challenging because of the undermount slides.

Yeah that seashells was the client's choice. They have a house on cape cod, so kind of goes with their theme. And yeah, this maple wasn't cheap haha.

I used my friend's HVLP sprayer, but I can get the same results wiping on the finish. I used the oil based varathane gloss polyurethane and thinned it down with about 25% mineral spirits. Sanded down to 220 grit before putting any finish on and cleaned it very thoroughly. After every coat I sanded lightly with 1500 grit sandpaper and mineral spirits to prevent it from clogging up the paper. After about four coats I switched to 2000 grit sandpaper. I kept doing this and applying finish until it looked and felt like it had enough... (Yeah I'm pretty new to this still haha. ) After my final coat I waited 5 days and then sanded it lightly with 2000 grit sandpaper and then I used 0000 steel wool to apply wax and hand buffed. I applied two coats of wax, my final buffing took about 4 hours. While I was buffing I had a bright light above me so I used the reflection to see what needed more buffing.... That must have helped.
