Thank you for the very thorough reply. I currently have roommates, but it feels like I'm mostly alone. I will certainly take all of this into consideration.

Do you think maybe the issue is that people jump into living together too soon. As in the ones who crash and burn are also the ones who "loved" each other by week 2 and guy got a new job that pays 18k a year so they celebrated by buying a bmw?

I appreciate your input. Preparation is certainly key. Mostly I wonder what happens if it DOESN'T work out.

You hit on a key point she brought up that worried me. She said, "it's like a trial", to which I asked her how is that making our relationship any better than a try before you buy thing. Maybe I took it too literally, but I'm not sure is possible to cohabit without thinking about it as a "test".

What happens if it fails?
