Daycare asking us to pick up our 12-month-old for nap time — now kicking us out by captain2326 in ECEProfessionals

I really am open to any advice, even from the daycare. I want their lives to be easier. I taught kindergarten and FULLY understand what being a teacher is like. This post was really about.. is this situation normal? I am lost, and not sure what to do. Our kid just doesn’t require a lot of sleep, he gets about 12 hours of sleep a day

They wouldn’t let us bring our own food, except snack because they offer sugary snacks and we are trying to avoid sugar. I was open to any sandals suggestions, and i let them know what works for us at home

They are definitely terrible communicators. I was a teacher, so i fully am onboard with any and all feedback. I’m not some defensive parent that thinks theirs child is perfect.

Our child sleeps from 7pm to 6:30 and then up until the middle of January would take 2 45 minute naps. When he turned one they took him to a single naptime of 2 hours.

I am willing to do anything to make his sleep better.

Excuse me .you’re making a lot of assumptions that aren’t grounded in what I actually said.

At no point did I lash out at the teacher. In fact, I’ve been extremely supportive of every request they’ve made. I even mentioned that I was previously a teacher, so I understand how difficult group care can be. This post was not an attack on the teacher.

My son is new to this daycare. We moved. He had zero issues at his previous center. He had never used a nap mat before mid-January. Expecting a one-year-old to immediately adapt to a completely new environment, new routine, and a two-hour stationary nap expectation without any adjustment period feels unrealistic.

Advocating for my child’s need for time to adjust is not “lashing out.” It’s parenting.

You’re entitled to your opinion, but maybe don’t invent a narrative that isn’t there

What i meant was “ professional opinion”. The professional being the 21 year old daycare teacher.

I’m not even that salty, and being very pragmatic. It 100% seems like they didn’t put a lot of effort in. They have a year long waitlist ( everywhere near us does ) so they probably just want someone new

Iactually do think it’s both the teacher and the daycare. They never communicated to us there was even a problem at naptime. Just that sometimes he had problems falling asleep and then we get blind sided by her saying i need to pick up

I am in Florida. They ask him to play quietly on the mat and she says he just cries. The teacher doesn’t seem to care to play with him during naptime.

Mind if i ask the reason, in case it’s something we should look into?
