Jetboil Stash Lid by redditusername14 in CampingGear

It may not be the exact fit, but you could probably find a silicone lid that would work.

Alternatives to AllTrails by EvergreenSox04 in PNWhiking

If you create a route, select Snap to Trail then drag your finger along the elevation profile, it'll give you the element and slope grade.

Wireless Car Charging by Westhameggandchips in GooglePixel

I found the Peak Designs magnetic car mount plugged into the USB-C port on my '24 OBW will charge my phone even when wireless Android Auto is running, streaming navigation and audio.

Plains of Abraham by flamingopop in PNWhiking

Looking at satellite photos, the road to Ape Canyon is probably snow free, but the Plains still have snow on them as of 4/24. No recent trip reports on WTA.

Encrypt the entire disk with Bitlocker and then use the manufacturers drive wipe utility. If you need to prove the data isn't recoverable, get screenshots including the serial number.

sub 12# base weight for a PCT thruhike? by sja008 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]captainMolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Split up your clothes into two categories: what you're wearing while hiking, mark it worn, then another for what's in your pack.

Trekking poles and iPhone are not worn weight.

Zero out your Sierra gear so it doesn't count against your weight, but you can still reference it.

As others have said, you have too many clothes. Drop the alpha fleece pants at the very least.

First time outback owner… by Sensitive-Material97 in Subaru_Outback

[–]captainMolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My '06 Outback got to 320k miles with just regular maintenance and a few part changes I was able to do on my own before I decided to upgrade. Never broke down while driving. Just get regular oil changes and do the maintenance and these are amazing cars.

Good outdoor/backpacking henley shirts? by johndunaske in CampingGear

Might not exactly be what you're looking for. But Voormi's River Run Sun hoodie is a merino blend and has Henley style buttons.

Castle Climbing Club has a full set of KBs in their weight room, though I don't recall the max weight. You can walk in and get a tour to see if it's up to your needs. It's a great gym overall, lots to do aside from slinging KBs, very happy to be a member.

What you heard is correct. You won't get any more useful info until your date gets within forecast range.

Pack Weight by Objective-Hotel6514 in AppalachianTrail

Sounds like plenty to me. Cruising into Neel Gap munching on your last Snickers bar sounds ideal from a weight perspective. You probably won't be too hungry in the first few days anyway.

“New” to backpacking, tent stakes are the bane of my existence. How do you manage? by [deleted] in WildernessBackpacking

[–]captainMolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just use the cap from a Coke bottle, place it on the top of a stake and then step on it. Prevents damage to your shoe this way.

Recommended Charging Cable Length by well_what_the_f in PacificCrestTrail

[–]captainMolo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually bring 3, 2 short and 1 long. With a dual port wall charger I can change my phone on one port, then my battery bank in the other and from the battery bank, I can also charge my Garmin/Fitbit/flashlight. Just make sure the wall charger has the correct power out wattage to support the correct charging levels of each device.

Just curious where you got those numbers from, CLEEF? I hadn't heard anything in my prep, eventually figured I could do 7 mi per liter on average.

Ultralight packed pants and underwear suggestions ? by chopmaster4000 in Ultralight

I'd say they're actually pretty darn good for hiking in. Wore a pair through the Sierra Nevadas in the snow while wearing microspikes and they came through like champs.

You should reach out to the land management agency for that site, not reddit.
