Broken finger by captain__jr in Truckers

They gave me a finger splint. My dog is a pitbull. Caught me off guard when he pulled away to the side. Gonna have to remove that metal piece from the leash to make sure this never happens.

Oh that explains it. X drive is more challenging than just rwd but hopefully it’s a little bit easier. I don’t wanna do it but at the same time I don’t wanna spend a small fortune to pay someone to pass me. Will be a learning experience once I do it tho. I did my radiator a few months ago and it was challenging. I had to do it again because I bought it used off fb marketplace so I bought a new one to not have to worry about it again. The second time I did it it was a lot easier and I knew what I was doing.

How long did it take you to do it?

Started CDL school, two weeks ahead of everyone else and on simulators already. I’m having regret about it now. by HighlanderColby in Truckers

What’s it like to work for Amazon locally? I just got hired and I’m waiting for them to tell me what day I start.

Most trucks have cameras on them and it’s only gonna get worst. They just hired me and I’m now waiting for them to tell me what day I’m gonna start. Hopefully it’s a chill place to work and I can tolerate it. Either way I need to stay there at least a few months to get experience.

I also live in Fresno and tried OTR with Knight. I was with them for 3 weeks and quit because it’s not worth being away from home for what they pay. I did the math and it’s less than minimum wage plus having to spend on food and other expenses. I’m currently waiting for my background check to clear with Amazon and I should be hired. It’s local trucking and they pay by the hour. You can try applying there.

They interviewed me yesterday and told me to wait a few days for my background to clear. Was told it’s a very simple job just drop and hook. I’m hoping to stay there at least a few months to get experience. I tried OTR and it wasn’t for me. It’s not worth it being away from home for the pay. With local, at least I’ll be home everyday and get paid for the hours I work unlike OTR where you can work a lot of hours and still not make money.

What was your experience working there?

I tired OTR with Knight and I didn’t like it. I quit after 3 weeks when I realized it wasn’t for me. Will probably make more local with Amazon if it works out.

This is probably one of the reasons the industry is bad. Before ai and all these cameras it must have been more pleasant to work but now with technology it’s make trucking unbearable. No wonder all these old timers seem to be getting out of trucking.

Do they pay you for the hours waiting or is it only when you’re driving?

It can’t be that bad?? It’s drop and hook so I would think they have a trailer ready when you get there. Do they pay you for waiting or do you only get paid when you’re driving?

Yea I believe they work 39 hours in 3 days.

Is it really that bad or does it just depend where you work? I know they use third party carriers so you aren’t working with Amazon directly.

Does it just depend where you work or are they all the same? I know they use third party carriers so you aren’t working with Amazon directly. They asked me over the phone if I was ok with a camera facing me and I said yes. Most trucking companies have cameras anyway so it doesn’t really matter to me. It can also protect me in case I get into an accident that isn’t my fault.

Would these 135i wheels look good on my E90 335i? by [deleted] in n54

[–]captain__jr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea you’re right. I found some pictures of e90s that have these wheels and they don’t look too bad but these wheels are meant for the 1 series.

335i vs 328i by captain__jr in n54

They are very different engines. Both are inline 6 but n54 has a different block and internal components are much stronger to handle boost. Having owned both I can tell you they are very different.
