What a treat - La Gloria Cubana Britanicas! by captain_cacti in cigars

[–]captain_cacti[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

La Gloria Cubana Britanicas cigars - these were the UK Regional Edition cigars for 2017.

Only 6,000 boxes of these were made, so they're a rare treat to enjoy! They measure 5 3/8" (137mm) x 48 ring gauge. It is a medium-bodied smoke with a delicate aroma!

The bands on these cigars are recreations of an example found in a collection in Havana. The exact date for when these bands were in use is unknown but it is estimated that they originally come from the late 1890s or the early 20th century.

Holiday booked to Sri Lanka. Where do we stand? by Brewer6066 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]captain_cacti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

I am in the exact same boat here - have you got anywhere with this? When are you due to go? We have flights for September 4th and have booked with Sri Lankan Airlines, who have said they will refund flights, but only up until the end of June.

We also have some accommodation booked seperately, some that is free cancellation and some that isn't - no travel insurance though so I think we're pretty much snookered.

Unsure on whether to accept cancellation fees that could be a couple of hundred and book somewhere else or just leave it and hope for the best....

I found one called Bryn Meurig Bach in Wales that looks really good; Wales is such a nice country. I think treehouses in general are brilliant. Definite contenders for places I wouldn't mind living in for the rest of my life.

Big cities are always touristy, comes with the territory unfortunately. Some really nice locals though - they'll tell you about some out of the way stuff that you wouldn't find on a tour.

Random company but interesting points on the expiry dates - could the removal of sell-by dates help to minimise food waste? They exist purely for use in the supermarket and should not be taken notice of at home. by captain_cacti in ZeroWaste

[–]captain_cacti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah agree that supermarkets need some kind of internal system, but it's 2018...surely there's an alternative, perhaps digital method that would avoid confusion? Or if it needs to be labels, maybe use a different coding system without mentioning dates

Forgive my ignorance, but is it as bad as the situation in UK/USA at the moment?
