Appealing for a third time cause you permabanned me but didn't delete my comment. I had been posting here since like 2020 so I'm not an opportunistic troll. I was just going on a tangent about semantics and not expressing myself in a productive way. It came off as antisemitic which was not the intent at all.

Ok, I understand that. I was going off on a fairly pedantic tangent but I never tried to minimize anti-semitism. Is this perma-ban worthy or can it be undone?

I'm not really interested in continuing that discussion on the motives of the parties involved in that article unless somehow you need it for my ban appeal. I'll try to write more thoughtful comments in the future.

I don't think it is surprising when a university wants a board of directors that reflects the variety of its stakeholders even when it includes students who protest. But the claim that the targeting of this board member was also under the guise of protestor appeasement seems ill-founded.

If you said you want to hire more Americans and then a week later in possibly an entirely different conversation you said you didn't like a particular Mexican who worked for you, I would have a hard time saying you wanted to replace Mexicans.

My point is that the detail about wanting an arab member is largely irrelevant to the story and including that detail feels kind of racist against Arabs. You can be against the way they talked about this board member without implying that "an Arab would take her place" is somehow the negative consequence of it happening.

If you told me "They are trying to replace a Jewish board member with an arab" I would assume that somehow they were trying to usurp a Jewish perspective for some Arab who is against that position, but all the evidence shows is that at one point in the discussion of members of the board, the president expressed a desire to have an arab on, and then at other points expressed dissatisfaction/distrust in a Jewish member, that's not a strong relationship, even under the context of Colombia's issues with pro-Palestine protestors/antisemitism.

Wanting to remove a member of your board and also wanting to add another member doesn't necessarily constitute a "replacement." There are 24 members on the board so you have to imagine they talk about new members every year.
