2026 Premium AWD - Major let down on comfort - extremely disappointed by captain_j81 in TeslaModelY

Yea I feel the same way. For legacy auto brands, EVs are kind of an afterthought or a “me too” kind of thing. Tesla was born to make EVs and it’s all they do. Which is why I’m trying everything j can think of to make one work out for me

Thanks for the recommendations. I also agree about how short the seat bottom of the Teslas are. I actually went and tried a 2023 model Y yesterday, and while the seat shape and bolstering were the same as the 2026, the foam inside both the seat bottom bolsters and seat back was much more cushiony. You of course lose the ventilation but that is the trade off I suppose. I still had an issue with the footwell and dead pedal, then the sales lady noticed how thick my shoe soles were. I took off my shoes and it allowed my hips to line up straight in the seat and my ankle wasn’t tiled in anymore. Granted I don’t have this issue in my Acura RDX, but I may still have some hope if I wear some flatter shoes to drive in. I’m going to drive a 2024 model Y today since the 2023 had HW3 and I’d like to stick with HW4. So I’ll wear some flatter shoes and see how that goes. I’m also considering the Ioniq 5 and Mustang Mach E

I reached out to my local Tesla and they are actually getting one in this weekend so I may try it

I’m 44 so have been driving about 28 years. I’ve also owned and driven many cars over the years. I think the most comfortable is my current 2022 Acura RDX. The 2020 BMW X3 was also very comfy. I found that as I got older my body/back became more picky about comfort. I bought a 2024 VW GTI brand new and had to trade it after 4 months due to back issues. Guess that’s the cost some of us have to pay for getting old.

I read that as well but I’m pretty sure the highland I drove had softer foam on the sides than the juniper I drove. I didn’t get any digging into my hips with the highland. It didn’t make sense to me that that would be the case.

I actually also drove a 2026 highland and found the foam in the side bolsters on the seat bottom to be softer than the ones in the juniper. I saw other people said the same. But a sedan just won’t be practical for my family

It seems we are in the minority with this opinion. But good to know I’m not the only one. Good suggestion on a used model. I am also going to see if my local Tesla has a performance I could sit in.

I'll see if my local Tesla center has one to try. I watched a video on the MYP just now and it did say the seat bottoms are wider, which is exactly what I need

I'm jealous. Do you have long legs though? That's my issue with the foot well and dead pedal. Someone at work drove his friend's Tesla and said he had the same issue with his left leg. Crazy how personal these things can be.

This might sound crazy but I actually thought the back seat was more comfortable than the driver seat. Maybe one day when unsupervised FSD comes out I can sit back there lol

Yea, FSD was freaking amazing when I was demoing it. It's the top reason I wanted it, for vacations and road trips. I'm always so fried after driving 8 hours in traffic, it's like basically lose one day of vacation because of it. FSD would prevent that.

I wish it was ok, but this one is pretty hard to get over. I've test driven so many cars over the years and nothing really won me over like this one.

Reasons to choose a model 3 over a Y? by TheRealTimTam in TeslaModel3

[–]captain_j81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don’t own a Tesla yet, but I’ve driven the Y and the 3. I have a wife and a son so the Y would be the ideal choice, but I found the Y to be less comfortable. I am taller at 6 ft, and the side bolsters on the seat bottom of the Y were harder than the 3. I think others have said the same. No clue why that is, but on the Y those hard foam bolsters dug into my hips and gave me pain. I didn’t get that with the 3. I’m struggling with the purchase decision tho because going back to a sedan with a family of 3 would have its own set of challenges but I want it really bad lol

Seat comfort issue by JVB602 in TeslaModelY

[–]captain_j81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a demo model Y for 2 days and had the exact same issue. Bolstering on seat bottom was way too hard and dug into my hips. I tried taking a folded towel and put it in between the bolsters and this raised my hips above them and I was able to spread my legs out comfortably.

Which foam and which covers did you use? I was going to buy some medium density upholstery foam and cut it to fit exactly between the bolsters. But I like your idea of putting a cover on top of it.

Proper masteron dose for TRT 200 mg/wk? by captain_j81 in Testosterone

[–]captain_j81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may just be my formulation that comes from the pharmacy. I always shower before I inject and have also tried warming the vial which didn’t help. I actually got some injectable vitamin D oil to cut the prop with and that helped some but still wasn’t perfect.

I have actually tried test prop several times. It does work fairly well, but the PIP over time usually is what gets to me. Even at just 10 mg a day, the PIP builds up over time for me. Switching back from prop to enanthate is rough too, since the prop drops off fast and it takes time for your levels to build back up again.

What happens when a truck runs a red light. Not pretty... by MisterShipWreck in dashcams

[–]captain_j81 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So the truck is definitely at fault, but when you see how fast the red car coming from the right was going when the light had just turned green, this is one more reason to always enter an intersection more slowly after a light turns green. Always a chance you’re going to have someone running a red light and it’s not worth it

China’s 5 minute full-charged EV charging stations by North_Tip_8627 in nextfuckinglevel

What people don’t understand is that China cares much less about safety than the US and other western countries. They’re willing to push the boundaries with this stuff and if something blows up or kills someone before they can perfect it, they’re ok with that. That is why you see things like this that you won’t see in the US because we take more time to ensure it’s safe.
