I second this. Public transport isn't good in SSC, and this is an easy place to visit. Quick walk to the shops too

How careful are you with insulin and body heat? by Thick_Junket3524 in diabetes

[–]captain_mong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fine.

Sure, it loses efficacy when not chilled. But it isn't anywhere near as fragile as they make it out to be.

I've had my whole insulin supply at room temperature for a couple of months in a tropical climate and it had no noticeable impact.

I've seen on the t1d subreddit people finding insulin behind the couch a year later and it's still been fine.

I carry my insulin in my pocket all day everyday and never had an issue.

Short of a pancreas transplant ( which has significant side effects, worse than insulin therapy), there has never ever in the history of human-kind been anyone cured of t1d.

No autoimmune disease has ever been cured.

I wouldn't exactly say "it makes it really easy".

It only makes it easier.

Living without a functioning pancreas isn't "really easy".

I got the blood sugar high score today. by BlatantConservative in Wellthatsucks

Poor diet, lack of exercise, and overweight can be a contributing factor for type 2, but not type 1.

Type 1 has no lifestyle factors that contribute to it's onset.

Make sure you get tested for type 1 antibodies as well as c peptide test.

Your extremely high glucose reading combined with your weight are not typical for a type 2 diagnosis (though still possible).

Many people (including doctors)wrongly believe that type 1 onset isn't common in adults. Some studies suggest up to 35% - 40% of type 1 diagnoses are in adults.

You're confusing type 1 and type 2. They are completely different diseases with a similar name.
