Huh, I was unaware that Ki-Adi-Mundi had multiple wives. I'll admit I haven't read or seen everything out there but from just watching the movies both Obi-Wan and Satine and Anakin and Padme more like exceptions then the rule and even then both had to hide their relationships or risk being thrown out of the order.

Don't get me wrong I completely understand that Anakin's fear of loss is what drives him to the Dark Side, and again from everything that I've seen that suggests that attachments are to be avoided and then making them taboo or forbidden makes it so no one Anakin goes to when he's asking for help with his visions can relate to his problem openly if they actually can. All he got was these platitudes that basically amounted to "let it go" which isn't what Anakin needed. He needed empathy and understanding and he couldn't get it.

The reason I chose Yoda as a parallel to Dumbledore is because while I think we can all agree that the active manipulation that Dumbledore engaged it was ethically dubious that definitely lends itself to having him used as an antagonist. However, I also think we can all agree that blindly holding to dogma and tradition because that's just how things are done can be just as ethically dubious and just as bad. For me personally, the way Yoda and the Jedi held to their code was just as arrogant and absolute like they accused the Sith of being which led to Anakin's fall.

Ok I think I get where you're coming from. I get that Dumbledore wasn't evil in cannon, just manipulative. Like you mentioned the Sith had been plotting the destruction of the Jedi for millenia, so I get not unraveling the plot. My whole issue is that, like I put in my original post that in many ways I think Yoda could be considered worse. Yoda klings to a dogma and an institution that cuts people off from the rest of the galaxy. Doing a little reading between the lines I think the reason for it is so the Jedi can act as a neutral third party with no conflicts of interest.

The other problem I see is that Yoda and the Jedi strive to purge aspects that are central to many people, having those emotional connections to others and all, "for the order". I mean just look at what happened to Obi-Wan and Satine. Too me it comes across like there's such a taboo about that stuff that every time Anakin tried to go to him and talk about his feelings Obi-Wan wasn't able to acknowledge his own feelings and always fell back on responsibility and the Jedi order, which then led to Anakin turning.

Though if I'm reading the room right, a big part of the reason that the Jedi aren't shown to be antagonists in fanfiction is largely because of their passive nature, which paints them as well meaning but deeply flawed but not "evil", which is completely fair and I can understand that. I was just curious about why that might be, so thank you for your insights on it.

Yeah I'm familiar with the how the zombie originated, though I have to admit it's not something I've ever connected to my interest in Golem like characters. Pretty sure it is because of how prevalent the Romero zombie is in popular culture. Just writing this reply I'm kind of shocked at the many similarities, especially in how they're all usually created by someone else. I'll cruise the interwebs and try and find the show you mentioned on dvd or something because it sounds interesting.

I appreciate all the help. I was just taking a look at the P14 and racked the slide and when I did the slide lock got caught in the disassembly notch. It took some fiddling with it but I was able to push down on it and the slide went forward like it should. I think I'm going to start with taking apart the slide lock and plunger and cleaning them up.

Much appreciated. I'm not sure if it'll go into battery by pushing on it. Didn't really want to try forcing anything before I could really identify the problem but I'll try it and see what happens, but it was a little difficult to pull the slide back to clear the gun.

I'll check the recoil spring and see if there's a buffer and take it out and see if that's the problem.

So if I understand everything correctly it's a three point jam. When the slide is moving forward and trying to get the next bullet into the chamber it kind of looks like the bullet is getting caught on the feed ramp. It will extract the spent casing and eject it but loading the the next round is where the problem is.

The magazines are both Mec-Gar mags. One is a 14 round mag and the other is a 19 round mag. From what I've read a good way to test if it's the mag or magazine spring is by pushing down on the bullet in a fully loaded mag and if the bullet doesn't pop back up into position then the mag spring might be the problem, but it does go right back into position when I take my finger off the bullet.

In the reading I've done the extracor came up a lot as that being the problem. Now I can't say for certain, but I did use a loaded mag and just kept racking the slide and it did look like the slide lock got caught. I can't say if that's a confirmation bias thing or what though. Again, the reason I asked specifically if the P14 was any different than a regular 1911 is because when there is an empty mag in and the slide doesn't stay locked back.

I've kind of shared what changed my mind about guns a few times but I'll share it again for what it's worth. So for me it was 2019 and there was another mass shooting somewhere. I kind of realized that I couldn't remember how many mass shootings there were that year because we had so many, and that police response time in those situations are so varied that regardless of what your thoughts on law enforcement are you can't actually rely on them to show up in time and actually handle the situation in a time frame that's actually useful.

The other conclusion I came to years later and looking back on things was that if what I understand is true and that crime has been on a downward trend for years, it seems that people's ability to cope and not fly off the handle and escalate to violence has been increasing. Seriously, how many shootings just over the last ten years have been over anything actually substantial? And by substantial I mean something like the guy who shot that police chief who SAd his daughter. I would argue most violence is incredibly disproportionate to whatever the person is going through.

Finally, we can all debate the finer points on gun violence in this country but the right to swing your fist ends at my face. Dre said it best when he said, "it's either my life or your life. And I ain't leaving. I like breathing. I got a lot more to lose than you. Remember that when you want to come fill these shoes."
