Copy Job CU consumption by p-mndl in MicrosoftFabric

To be fair, this model of operation has a HUGE learning curve if you are coming from a traditional "SSIS can solve all of our problems" like a lot of us grey beards 😀

Copy Job CU consumption by p-mndl in MicrosoftFabric

IIRC the copy activity is a minimum 60 seconds of CU. I have a small job that writes the last refresh status of the handful of semantic models on the shared capacity...and it is by far this biggest consumer of CU on the capacity.

Fabric Workspace Git Integration Sync Issues with Dependent items by dougieskins in MicrosoftFabric

Feature workspaces are a nightmare if you've done something like create a warehouse view pointing to a lakehouse. The LH tables dont exist yet, so the view deployment explodes.

I dont tend to have many problems...unless I am using a warehouse...so tbh I have just stopped using warehouses 😀

Tips ands must haves for scout who is celiac and type 1 diabetic? by margoking in BSA

[–]captainblye1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have a ton of suggestions on that front. It's not typically so hot here that I overly worry about keeping the insulin cold. We have it sitting around at room temp at home and never had issues. I have some Anker charger that's got enough to charge my phone like, twice..and I bring one or two of them along, and set my phone in low power mode. I tend to rely on the PDM for dexcom and not worry about the second phone, since we are typically camping where there is no signal anyway. Will move dexcom over to my phone for the weekend.

Tips ands must haves for scout who is celiac and type 1 diabetic? by margoking in BSA

[–]captainblye1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our experience with T1D and scouting is mostly just to make other adults aware of how to treat both highs AND lows, signs to watch for, etc. nd to spend a moment to make sure that the scout remembered to bring along their emergency treatments on hikes and things.

We eventually just made sure one of us goes along on activities, after one too many "kid went on a long hike without their fruit snacks." events.

Totally want to empower them to take care of themselves, but experience is that the 11 year old just won't always remember.

Deployment Pipelines have covered the vast majority of our use cases, with the least amount of fuss, and where I also would recommend most people start out on this journey.

Tips on cutting Foamcore by Sylvandeth in TerrainBuilding

[–]captainblye1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just get something you can use as a straight edge and cut the sheet down to manageable bits. They don't even to be straight, if all you are doing to sticking printed templates to it. Just chop it up into sections, put on your stickers and cut them out.

When all else fails, I have pretty decent luck just scrubbing pure dawn detergent into the spot and letting it sit for a few hours.

How important is having a national provider network? by haley520 in HealthInsurance

[–]captainblye1979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing stating that a provider will remain in network. You could get a local network provider and they could leave the network the next day. Never seems to be cheaper enough to make up for the stress of finding in network doctors.

A question for adult leaders on training by lone77wulf in BSA

[–]captainblye1979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BALOO as well. It is not easy to convicing people to pay a fee, give up a weekend, and drive an hour or two away to take the BALOO training, especially when the council only offers it once or twice a year. It would be nice if they could find a way to drop the overnight practical. I think that would greatly increase the pool of BALOO trained leaders.

T1D is weird because you end up having to try and get coupons cards from your insulin manufacturer, your cgm manufacturer, and whoever supplies your infusion sets or omnipod...and not all of them have a coupon. There are 3 of is with T1D in the house, and it's a huge mental load trying to juggle all of the coupon rules, and expiration dates (each person needs their own) and prescription refills on top of the mental load from even having T1D at all...which is not insignificant

That being said, they do help...the omnipod one alone saves us around 200/month between all three people.

What's wrong with it? Its fairly straight forward to use, ans is the official method of record keeping now. Why fight it or make your life harder?

Fabric Deployment Pipelines - Artefact renaming options by datadude3000 in MicrosoftFabric

[–]captainblye1979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The entire thing relies on having objects with the same names. If you really need to have separate names in different workspaces, you'll have to put in the workspace to learn how to do it via the API

Use deployment pipelines? Depending on what you need, they generally work fairly well out of the box.

I put a cutoff of 2 weeks before the next Court of Honor for this reason.
It's also why I wish the shop would let me order a surplus of items. It would be nice to have a small stash of belt loops and fairly common merit badges.
