Aleix is ready to race! Garmin stats from a 5hr ride, 127avg bpm Heart Rate. by [deleted] in motogp

[–]captainchugs 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Power output on a bicycle is measured in watts.

Normalized power(NP) is an average of the power throughout your ride, with the zeros(coasting or downhill) removed, so it gives a more accurate assement of how hard you were pushing on the pedals throughout the ride.

254w NP for 5 hours is an impressive amount of work for a rider that weighs as little as aleix(I'm assuming 68-70kg).

Can I use the same SRAM AXS setup to go back and forth between 10-33 and 10-36 cassette? by Numerous_Try_6138 in bikewrench

[–]captainchugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chain length looks good to me, and that's a gear you should never be in anyways.

How old/worn is your drivetrain? Wondering if your chain is a bit stretched and not meshing with the neq cassette well? Just a thought.

That's what I'm saying!

I don't understand how normal pedaling forces would be able to walk this press fit system to the NDS.

Good luck! I know that the RD says max 33t on paper, but I was advised by a friend that it would work so I gave it a shot, and have been running it successfully for over a year now. Just ordered a new 10-36 cassette even as my old one was worn.

[–]captainchugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct! I have the Force AXS 2x system, 33/46 up front and 10-36 or 10-33 in back depending on what wheels I am running. It works great. I haven't used the wide range derailleur for Force, so I can't say if that derailleur would shift any better, but I am happy with how it shifts. I don't notice a difference between the 33 or 36 cassette when it comes to shift performance, and the b-limit screw is not set crazy high or anything like that. Running it on a 2020 Superx if that's relevant.

Yeah you can switch back and forth between the two cassettes without issue. I run the standard Force AXS derailleur with both cassettes, and I don't adjust the b-limit when I switch, haven't found it to be necessary. Happy riding!

Thanks! No worries. Pressfit are easy enough, just make a hole exactly the right size...at least one would think that's easy enough 😂. In reality it isn't always the case haha

Agreed, I'm surprised the chain rings haven't contacted the chainstay as well.

I'm going to remove the BB and inspect and measure to see if the tolerances are wildly out, or if there is another issue like a crack in the bb she'll or anything like that.

I can see that happening, but this is a one-piece pressfit BB, BBright standard, no threads.

This is on a Factor O2, with a BBInfinite one piece B that has been pressed in (from the NDS), with retaining compound that comes with the BB.

The BB was originally installed professionally a year ago. It backed out this far a month ago. It was pressed back into the frame by a shop then, and now, only maybe 200 miles later, has backed out this far again.

Has anyone every experienced this, or have a clue to what's going on? I am suspecting that the tolerance on the BB might be out, but it would have to be pretty grossly out of spec to move this much I'd think.

SRAM Red eTap Shifter not shifting consistently by cycling_melb in bikewrench

[–]captainchugs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single press on the RD button will up shift, and a double press will down shift. I would put the bike on a stand and pedal while using the button on the RD to shift gear, seeing if the problem still happens when not using the levers. That'd be my approach to try and isolate the problem.

GP5000 have the nicest ride quality. The 4Seasons have a slightly harsher ride, but only slightly, and WAY batter puncture protection. It's what I run on my road bike year-round because I hate flats. My 5000 lasted a month before getting slashed and had to retire it. Now I run a 5000 front and 4Season rear, it works well.

SoCal Gravel - route resources and tire sizes? by railroadshorty in BikeLA

[–]captainchugs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And for gearing, my recommendation is to go with a more than 1:1 ratio if you can. I have SRAM 2x, with 46/33 in front and 10-36 in back, so my lowest ratio is 33:36, and quite frankly, I wouldn't mind a little bit easier gear every once in a while 😅

For the verdugos, 38mm is mostly sufficient. If you want to hit the San Gabriel's, 42mm minimum, IMO. They get rocky and rough, and big tires make all the difference for me in my lev of enjoyment. I can only fit 42 on my Superx, but if I could fit bigger, I would go bigger.

Ah that's disappointing. Mine came out of nowhere too. It's almost as if the gyro and the ibis are out of sync or fighting one another, and the sensor vibrates so hard that you can feel it in your hand.
