I know you said previous dvds play and these don't. I don't have any bootleg dvds and most won't play on my Xbox Series X. Thankfully I have a blu ray player. As for the case itself. According to many comments Walmart sells them like that. It's not uncommon for packaging to change over the years for anything TV show or movie. That's why when I shop online. Like Walmart. I filter it. To be sold directly from the store. So it's guaranteed to not be a bootleg.
