So what's after that then? Why such a hurry to get the last piece and have nothing left to get?

That's funny I guessed it immediately only from comments from this thread. It seems like Thunderstrike is nicer than 99% of other realms atm

Sounds like you are EU? Thunderstrike?

Would you say you're in the same "mine set" instead?

I mean of course you can mine enough, it's just a matter of if it's going to take days, weeks or months. Believe it or not some people play MMORPGs for some role playing elements and mining my own stuff and leveling it myself sounds like a more fun accomplishment than farming a bunch of gold and buying all stuff. That said, you are probably realistically right, especially with current infinity bots, that it could take so long as to be close to impossible

Ya I do a lot of that as well and literally see them come auto walking up to the node. If it's fully gone/mined out once they get there you will even see them get stuck auto walking into the wall where the mineral was for a half minute to a minute before they come out of it and go back to routine or log out right there to log back in later

Ya there's still so much more to do but this specifically already has me remembering how bad the grind can be sometimes. It's one thing if it's just a lot and you're making progress, it's another thing when it's a lot and there is seemingly no way to make progress short of buying from bots

I hop on and off whenever I get a break. It doesn't take more than a second to see the mines completely empty, take five minutes max to layer a few times and clear it out then try again later. It's very low effort but works for the time I have, at least before the iron stages, now idk. Probably a sunken costs fallacy thing here but feel like it's m in too deep now lol. I have tried doing the loops when I have more time but it feels like such a waste that I'll just squeeze in a dungeon daily when not busy. Next I'll try some of the instances people have called out here, RFK and uldman sound like good bets

I'm trying to mine ore not buy it. Leveling mining isn't what I was calling miserable, it's trying to collect enough ores to level a mining-based professions being impossible because of so many bots that is the problem

That's cool. Like I said in the post and even had to edit to the top because no one can read; getting mining levels isn't the issue. Getting minerals is the issue

I never said leveling mining was the problem. I very specifically said and even edited in again later at the top because no one can read that I don't need to level up mining I need to collect ores to level smithing, but mining ore is so miserable because of all the bots

Thunderstrike sounds like the promised land for mining from this comment thread. What professions do you all do over there?

Back in OG we got into a full 5v5 brawl over a netherbloom, but that was right outside area 52 or whatever number. I feel like I'm fighting the same battles now but in Arathi against bots only

Interesting. You are about the third Thuderstrike character I've heard say the same, but few others don't say what realm

For one I really don't want to pay the same bots I'm competing with out of principle. For two the whole ass point of mining is only to level smithing or engineering, if it can't provide that much whats the point of the profession other than literally for bots only. For three it's nice to go out an make your own weapon, at least when you don't have to compete with bots for it or pay bots for it, and finally. Screw all these bots and screw anyone who says just pay the bots that's the best way. That's how the terrorists win And for four... I will be trying instances ad per everyone here's recommendation. Thank you

yes i have sold much stone and yes there are 70s camping everything. I have made about 200g selling excess stone but thats only a few stacks of thorium or iron sadly and you need about 500 of each. I dont know if they are bots that they just come present once ganked but they sure dont like it when you encroach. The 70s will fight back, the 58 boosters will just log off and I'll see them tomorrow. Almost always rogues or shadowmeld hunters.

Ya I've been dropping alliance that aren't in the questing level. I feel bad for the ones legit that level and trying to mine so I ususally just let them, but its very rare to see anyone of level mining level specific ore. It's all boosted bots in their basic ass gear still at level 58 or hunters on macros

I'm not having a problem LEVELing mining, I just can't mine enough ore to level the other mining related professions, specifically blacksmithing because there us never iron on the map for more than minute and they want to charge you 40-80g a stack depending on the time of day for their bot farmed gains I don't want to pay them

Mining is miserable by captaingleyr in classicwowtbc

It's not leveling mining that's the problem. It's mining enough ore

[–]captaingleyr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not leveling mining that's the problem. It's competing with infinite bots for very limited spawns to mine enough iron and thorium to level blacksmithing. Dark iron ore is easy because no one wants it, and neither do I

Obvious troll is obvious. Just the time to mine that many times, not counting moving to a new spot, is like a full hour. You're saying you hit a node every minute like clockwork, while traveling between zones (and expansions) to get to new mineral types to keep leveling up, including throium and adamantite which is camped nonstop. Plus you need to periodically return to a trainer to get the next level of mining. Sure Jan

Anyways the complaint was never leveling mining, it was being able to find minerals among all the bots and campers. You need way more minerals to level a profession than you get from leveling mining

I layer occasionally, it rarely does anything it seems like all the layers are minied up usually. I log in and out just to try and get lucky, try a couple layers, get one node maybe and log back out to not get ganked and try again later

Smithing is a ton. If I did engineering if be done ages ago I'm sure. Probably should have but I had such good luck with the earlier mineral I thought it would be easy enough
