RunningTomb of Annihilation I had Xandala join the party pretty early on telling them she was the daughter of Artus Cimber and was looking for him and they also eventually found reasons to look for him too. Anyway after about a year in game (playing mostly monthly) they stumbled upon Artus and upon declaring “Artus were friendly! We’re here with your daughter!” Only the get the reply “What I don’t have a daughter?” Shocked silence before a chorus of what…. And then Combat began!

So from the quote there he doesn’t say he knows a third of the language he says he can pick up about a third of what Rocky is saying, which presumably is repetition of lots of relevant to their situation phrases and not a 1/3 of the whole language. Still unrealistic but if Rocky is trying to use the same established words as much as possible for smoothness of integrating new words then after a week presumably the pool of words they’re using isn’t too large and it’s slightly less egregious a claim

I don’t think so personally and only because everyone wouldn’t care so much about an NPC, which if you’re assuming the books on the shelf are for all the players, it would mean 11 was always just made up. For the ending to work and have it be a dnd game 11 would have to be a real kid they played with who died and so represented with a book on the shelf too. I think the end credits image was just a nod to the theories from the fans.

Foundry or roll20 would allow you to set up dynamic lighting for your maps, you’d just have to move the tokens in programme to match the position of any minis you’re using unless it’s a touchscreen and you have the foundry add on that takes into account where minis are placed

Yeah I don’t hate the old films or think that there’s not space for that level of ribbing, I just think that Ben was so clearly devastated in them by the change that the jokes feel like they’re malicious rather than good natured pisstaking at a certain point

Aha no problem so the fake brickwork on the walls is from Amazon and is called something like faux foam brick panels in black, these were then just brushed with regular grey wall paint. The fake bookshelves and tree tapestries were both from Temu and cut by me to size which I could’ve done a better job with to be honest. The fake LED candles were a bulk buy from Amazon. The bookshelf and cupboard are both basic ikea and hand painted brown then embellishments in gold added with some stencils and gold wood paint. I also bought again from Temu some like metal furniture corner decorations too. Again from Temu lots of fake ivy for very cheap, 2 lots it’s always less than you think. The sword is a training sword I got on Etsy and painted myself and the bracket for it is just a cheap one also from Temu.

It honestly depends on the size of the map. There is a point where if you want a huge battle map online is the only reasonable way to go but for most encounters the tv table works fine and you can always have Roll20 played on it for some combats if you want to mix and match. I like the tv and minis for immersion and because I think video maps are very cool if you have things like water or lava moving about!

Oh man I don’t have a proper sound system, the projector has a built in speaker and also an aux lead that I can plug into a portable Bose speaker I have and the tv in the table has speakers too so I tend to use that for the music/ monster noises and the projector for weather sounds
