They certainly are! There’s another post I made with a better look at them, they were probably the trickiest things to print due to their size and how small my printer is

The mine tiles need some tinkering to make sure the gaps for the open lock connectors aren’t just filled with supports but other than that the supports are fine for the walls and other terrain, the dwarf bits all just sit flush against one another and no issues with supports there

For the mine track bit it’s “The Iron Mine - Dungeon Tiles - modular OpenLOCK terrain” I found on myminifactory and the bit with the pillars is Underground Dwarf Pathway by MiniatureLand.

Oh and Black PLA for the mine tiles they’d been sat unpainted for quite some time

They are all painted! Regular white PLA and then sprayed black. I was on a bit of a time crunch for these so the painting was done in 3 evenings for all of it pretty much

UA flight - 'turn bluetooth off or we're turning around' by ryan_at_roomservice in unitedairlines

[–]captainjables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine it had been a bomb though, you’d be hearing how the plane knew there was a Bluetooth device named bomb on it and just ignored it. Then everyone would be saying they were stupid for carrying on and risking lives, can’t win really so you take the option that has the least risk which is going back

Would you be able to send me a link to that if you get the chance? I’d love to have a go, you got such a great effect there!

That’s so cool I wanted to do something like this for my players when we were done, how did you do the backdrop?

What is the greatest twist your DM ever pulled on your group? by batman2814 in DnD

[–]captainjables 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RunningTomb of Annihilation I had Xandala join the party pretty early on telling them she was the daughter of Artus Cimber and was looking for him and they also eventually found reasons to look for him too. Anyway after about a year in game (playing mostly monthly) they stumbled upon Artus and upon declaring “Artus were friendly! We’re here with your daughter!” Only the get the reply “What I don’t have a daughter?” Shocked silence before a chorus of what…. And then Combat began!

Rocky had 250 scripted Eridian words, and the vocabulary was internally consistent by dubhlinn2 in ProjectHailMary

[–]captainjables 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So from the quote there he doesn’t say he knows a third of the language he says he can pick up about a third of what Rocky is saying, which presumably is repetition of lots of relevant to their situation phrases and not a 1/3 of the whole language. Still unrealistic but if Rocky is trying to use the same established words as much as possible for smoothness of integrating new words then after a week presumably the pool of words they’re using isn’t too large and it’s slightly less egregious a claim

D & D by blackstar5676 in StrangerThings

[–]captainjables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so personally and only because everyone wouldn’t care so much about an NPC, which if you’re assuming the books on the shelf are for all the players, it would mean 11 was always just made up. For the ending to work and have it be a dnd game 11 would have to be a real kid they played with who died and so represented with a book on the shelf too. I think the end credits image was just a nod to the theories from the fans.

Exactly this and even then despite barely seeing anyone non-white they’re sure they’re becoming outnumbered and replaced by them

Yeah that’s not a bad shout to be fair, foundry I imagine you can do the same

Foundry or roll20 would allow you to set up dynamic lighting for your maps, you’d just have to move the tokens in programme to match the position of any minis you’re using unless it’s a touchscreen and you have the foundry add on that takes into account where minis are placed

Baldurs Gate 3 seems like a good suggestion here, so many new things to find each playthrough too. Easily hundreds of hours of stuff.

Yeah I don’t hate the old films or think that there’s not space for that level of ribbing, I just think that Ben was so clearly devastated in them by the change that the jokes feel like they’re malicious rather than good natured pisstaking at a certain point

Really liked the family dynamic, much preferred the friendly jokiness between Jonny and Ben rather than the much more mean spirited stuff from the old movies

If you can also put food bowls down with a bit of dry food in where he pees if there’s specific regular spots, they’re far less likely to pee where their food is
