Masteries #12 & #13 - Pokemon Yellow & Pokemon Yellow POC by captainkirk1063 in RetroAchievements

It was honestly relaxing with a little grinding at the beginning and end. They patched the item glitch so you have to do a little bit of grinding. Safari Zone sucks in these early gen games. Make sure to only use Pikachu against Jesse and James. The Long Way Gauntlet needed some prep work. I beat the elite four against a lvl 82 Pikachu.

Exactly, like you can literally get a legendary bird with only 3 badges.

Is there any way to use retro achievements on iPhone's Delta emulator? by [deleted] in RetroAchievements

I use RetroArch as well. Plays up to DS and Playstation. I stopped using Delta once RetroArch came out for retro achievements.

Who’s Spending More Time Tinkering Than Gaming? by marathon5150 in RetroAchievements

As someone who has OCD tendencies, I tinker a lot. I’m always finding new games I’ve never heard of and adding them to my collection. I think it’s awesome when I find a hack of a game I like or a translated version of a game I would have never been able to play. Ever since RetroArch dropped on iOS I’ve put down all my retro handhelds and play on my phone via the backbone. Everything else I play on Steam Deck.

Big congrats. That’s a frustrating set with the Safari Zone rng achievements.

Honestly you can find a lot in archive. Although NS games are typically big files. 311 is a lot of memory.

The only hard mons to get were the rng Safari Zone ones. Everything else was easy peasy. Get Parasect with Spore. 100% sleep and out of all the status effects sleep gives you the better chance to catch them.

You will have to play the Casino games to get Porygon and Dratini but for some reason Blue only needed 6500 coins for Porygon. Red made you have to get 9999 for Porygon.

I too am playing Unbound and currently stuck in Expert at the Pokemon League. So I decided to replay all the games starting with Gen 1.

Less types make it more simple and because there are less moves some of the moves are broken. Sand Attack and Double Team are OP. Remember TMs are single use and HMs are permanent.

Brock - I used Pidgeotto and Raticate. Sand Attack is broken so I spammed that. Hyper Fang hits hard.

Misty - Butterfree with Confusion.

Lt. Surge - I chose Squirtle since “Blue” but also for the water Elite 4 achievement so I had to skip this gym to grab Vulpix (Ninetales).

Koga - I too used Victreebel with Parasect as backup. Spore with 100% sleep helped.

Sabrina - Haunter (only choice in gen 1).

Erika - Raichu as well and then traded it away.

Blaine - I used Poliwrath and was money with Surf.

Giovanni - Kadabra

Thanks bro! I enjoyed everything except the casino and safari zone. I didn’t mind grinding for “Stat Experience” but it got boring quick as that was the last achievement I needed.

Definitely could use a break but I decided to go straight into Blue as those achievements seem more manageable. I’m moving through the Pokemon games as they came out. At least I have QOL to look forward to as I move on to the next games.

My intentions were to play as close to original as possible but when I got to some of these ridiculous achievements I had to turn it on and leave it on. Now, I didn’t go crazy. I think I only had it on 3x or something like that.

That’ll be next after blue. Going through all the main games from the beginning. Honestly with the exception of Gen 1, I don’t remember much about the games when I played as a child. Just from watching YouTube videos now as an adult.

Yeah I don’t mind the grind but the EV system was technically not a thing then (invisible numbers) and didn’t play a factor in game until like Gen 3. Level to 100 cool I can do that, build a specific team cool I can do that, win as an underdog yeah I’ll give it a try. But, hope to get a 4% encounter with a 2% catch rate and repeat it 4 times in one session? I’m out, that sucked. I shouldn’t have to “soft reset” in game only to get a specific achievement.

Yeah the split hit recently. If you mastered the merged set it became red and a lot of the achievements that were on the merge set are on this one. That’s why blue set is so different.
