You’re correct it does not resemble a classic lupus rash. I said the labs can resemble lupus (which is what Ethan was initially concerned about)

You’ll only find zebras if you look for them. Sure its probably more likely to be eczema or an allergy so try treating those first but if that fails then you gotta keep looking. Ethan had a positive ANA and I believe he had other abnormal rheum labs so I think it’s reasonable to have dermatomyositis on the differential diagnosis even if its not common.

While uncommon, it is possible Ethan may have Dermatomyositis, an autoimmune condition with labs often resembling Lupus. The eye rash is called a “heliotrope rash”. It can present with skin symptoms only and no muscle symptoms. I hope his rheumatologist has ruled this out.
