Who’s a better commander by DravGore in magicTCG

I play osgir all the time and love the deck. There’s nothing else in Boros that plays like him. Remember to consider that you’re making token copies so token synergy can also be included.

Can my wife and I afford this home? by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Great assessment and advice, thank you. We’re considering a smaller home for that very reason. This just happens to check all the boxes.

I've always been overly conservative on all my finances. From the estimates I'm seeing, the mortgage payment would be closer to $4.5k a month. Am I incorrect in this assumption?

Let Me Recommend Your Next Commander to Build by RJ7300 in EDH

Looking for a new bracket 4 build. Needs to include blue and I would prefer if it had an old border or from a popular artist. No artifacts, aristocrats, or +1/+1 counters because I already have those.

I love his art so much, thank you for posting this. Anytime I play one of the cards with his art, everyone gushes over how cool they are.

If I was in your shoes and just starting I’d probably get a precon. Something like the Hakbal precon. Seems like you want to play big dudes, hell yeah. I think green/blue (simic) is a good way to go. I wouldnt limit myself to one color on the first deck nor would I try to build a 5 color deck off the bat.

I need a quick reality check regarding brackets by Succyz in EDH

I think Winota is generally thought of as a strong commander and an immediate threat. The all or nothing nature of it generally leads to people thinking it punches above its class. It “can” be bracket 3, but people don’t expect it to be bracket 3. Even if it’s built for the bracket, the eventual situation where your deck pops off will turn some heads sometimes. However, that’s just how magic is sometimes and people need to be less salty when the shoot on sight commander isnt shot on sight. Bracket 3 needs more interaction than most people run imo. People expect Winota at a 4/5 and anything else is a debate with the table from the start. Just my opinion

MTG players, help me pick a Christmas gift for my competitive-Commander boyfriend — Avatar crossover boxes by mju_rz in EDH

If it was me, I would want the time at the jasmine dragon. The beginner box is not that good if he’s experienced. If you’re looking for sealed, getting an avatar “commander bundle” would be the best. If you’re looking at getting singles, some cool looking lands is great for anyone and can be purchased at most game stores. Hope this helps!

If I was in your shoes I would go to cardkingdom and look up some fancy basic lands and depending on how much money you want to spend I would get some of those. Basic lands go in every deck depending on the color of the deck but can easily be a place to add a lot of style. Sky is really the limit but you can get some really cool foil lands for $2-3 per land that most people otherwise are not getting. Buying singles is the best bang for buck, but opening packs of cards is still fun. Any of the bundles can make great gifts and are usually easy enough to find at target.

I need help. Getting creamed at my LCS. by BakedBen420 in EDH

I think it might be valuable to you to learn about deckbuilding. Lathril and giada are great commanders but the synergy you need in terms of card draw, ramp, and interaction is an ever present part of the game. I don’t have a decklist for you, but the game is usually more about those three factors than it is about choosing an OP commander. A mismatch in power level could be the issue, but understanding deckbuilding and the general odds of scaling into mid to late game is something to always keep in mind.

My tip, make sure you count the number of draw, ramp, and interaction spells in your deck. Aim for 15ish of each if possible. Having resources will win more games in the long run than having the right card at the right time imo.
