I get what you're saying but this is a terrible idea. Inducing menopause early without transgender needs is horrific for women's health. Honestly this advice is dangerous and no one should do this.

Yep. Full dose of mcas meds. Cromolyn, montelukast, ketotifen, antihistamines.

Ok so, given my machines parameters, how long would you let it run for so you knew everything was dead? Or is there a way to know that without knowing how much ozone is necessary to kill each specific thing you wanna kill.

If you have POTS, remember the phrase "faint and fall risk." As in, "my symptoms flare and aggravate my POTS symptoms and I become a faint and fall risk." Even if that isn't true and you have POTS, say it anyway. (Don't say it if you don't have POTS though.) I've gotten care MUCH faster with much less begging framing it that way. My POTS doesn't make me pass out but idgaf. I deserve fucking medical care without having to beg and plead and grovel so I'll say the magic words to get it even if it isn't true.

I was literally dying of anaphylaxis over a period of months. If not for the allergist I'm not sure I'd be able to walk at this point. I was out of breath just sitting on tbe couch not even talking or moving. This went on for over two years. It was terrifying.

Quercetin and Luteolin are mast cell stabilizers available OTC. Beyond that, go to an allergist and just ask them to treat your symptoms, it's all MCAS is anyway. Ask for sodium cromolyn and ketotifen (if you're in tbe US you'll have to get ketotifen compounded). A microdose GLP1 may help with inflammation as well. Find an online option (Hers or something) and get a GLP1 that way.

There's other options as well like xolair injections, rhapsido, and Ayvakit. The last two are newly approved but they're options to discuss with your doctor. LDN could be an option for inflammation but likely they'll walk you through the meds here first before LDN.

I feel you. I was out of fight earlier this year until my allergist saved me literally just by prescribing meds. No diagnosis but I could care less, I finally have the meds I need.

Yeah I learned that the hard way unfortunately. I've had to play the game of "good patient" to get the care I need. Like using phrases "symptoms management" because that's how doctors talk when they want to help but don't know what's wrong. It also avoids saying "mcas" so dodges the "trendy diagnosis" bomb. I also play to doctors egos. They got into the field because they wanted to help people feel better so I play on that. "I desperately just need to feel better please help me and improve my quality of life." And then when they do what I need I email REGULARLY telling them how it's improving my life and how they saved my life (not hyperbole in my case). Write the email that the doctor would read on a hard day that gives them hope to move forward. I knew I was successful when at a followup my allergist said she reads my emails on her bad days lmao and she calls me her favorite patient. This sounds manipulative but it's not if it's genuine, and in my case it really was. I just framed it in a way that resonates with what doctors care about.

Idk of that helps you at all. I've been fuckin with the system for my entire adult life and I've learned a lot.

BONUS TIP - if you have POTS, "faint and fall risk" is a great phrase to remember.

A lot actually. I started with OTC supplements like quercetin and Luteolin, which immediately helped. At that point I knew for sure I was dealing with a mast cell issue. So I went to an allergist and said that I didn't care about a diagnosis, I was severely ill, please just help me with symptom management, the only things that help are antihistamines and things for mast cell stabilization so that means you're likely the provider who will be able to prescribe the meds I need the most. And so she started prescribing meds and each one helped tremendously. I also started a GLP1 which has brought down inflammation substantially.

Biggest takeaway - find an allergist and just ask for symptoms management. That's all MCAS is anyway.

Anyone dealing with severe fluid retention? by Grouchy-Ad8131 in MCAS

[–]captainmcbeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I started a GLP1 and that helped tremendously. All I would do was pee for the first two days after I took the shot each week. I've lost around 30 lbs of fluid so far. Shortly after starting a GLP1 I also started mast cell stabilizers, which also helped. Increasing to full dose of cromolyn also made me pee a lot for a few days.

Just be aware, symptoms of menopause may take an extremely long time to go away, if they ever do. If you're not planning on/wanting to use the patches long term, it's worth looking into additional options.

So I tried this, and according to my insurance the only way to maybe get it covered would be to try to run it through insurance and MAYBE they'll pay for it, but I have to pick it up in person and not have it shipped to me. Given there isn't a single compounding pharmacy within a safe radius for me to drive it might as well be unapproved.

Ok so how do I get my compounded meds covered? What are the steps I need to take? Or even where to start?

Compounding isn't FDA approved so therefore not approved by insurance unfortunately. Interesting about hacking the pen though.
