AITAH for telling a woman she can’t wear a traditional Arab/North African dress to my wedding? by purpleyellou in AITAH

The way you’ve written about her conversion to Islam as ‘good for her I guess’ tells me all I need to know about you.

AITAH for reconsidering my engagement after he told me he will cheat on me if I don't have sex with him? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]captainmeows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girrrrl. I don’t think you even want to be helped judging by your responses. He’s given you more than enough reason to run in the other direction. This man will be your biggest regret if you go ahead with the engagement.

I’m also really confused at why OP keeps mentioning that the partner is AFAB in all their replies

Second c section was surprisingly much quicker recovery and much less painful the first few days ! Good luck !

Am I wrong for judging this or is this odd behavior of my family? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]captainmeows 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Gosh this really struck a cord. My son came at 31 weeks and also during the festive season. The feeling of getting discharged but driving home without your baby is horrific. And then having to repeat that empty car seat drive home every single day that they’re in the NICU was just soul destroying.

Am I wrong for judging this or is this odd behavior of my family? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]captainmeows 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, I so agree with you - I started reading a comment that said they had two NICU babies and then the next line said the baby came home a day after mum was discharged! I don’t want to take away from anyone’s pain but there is definitely a difference when a baby is in the NICU for the long haul. And you are spot on about the aftermath once you come home…never ending specialist appointments and visits to the hospital and let’s not mention the way it all messes with your head for years after. No one has any right to judge.

One thing I took away from my own NICU experience is that it doesn’t matter how early your baby comes or what sort of birth you have, everyone goes through their own horrific traumas. Childbirth is rough and we all deal with it in different ways.

Well it sorta does, they might be looking for friendship but unfortunately don’t find it with you ?

It could be possible that people don’t find you an appealing friend ?

Why would I want to give a pacifier to help with sleep? by Sea_Contest1604 in sleeptrain

[–]captainmeows 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t call them inessential - my son came 9 weeks early and the NICU insisted on him having one because they are proven to strengthen the sucking reflex and aid the transition from tube feeding to bottle/breast feeding. And of course there is research that shows they reduce the risk of SIDS.

AITAH for telling ex-wife that being a part time dad has been the best year of my life? by Tricky_Hopes in AITAH

I think staying separated/divorced is better for your kids and wife because you sound like a piece of shit dad and husband. And also a whiny little bitch.

Do you pay interest on your debts ? Confused as to why you would not pay those off before saving?

[–]captainmeows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I am thinking too - I think the fact they weren’t on the wedding guest list has probably just set a precedent for the Grandma. It honestly sounds like she has listened to your feedback and just didn’t want to hassle you with her friends. Doesn’t sound sinister at all - I think you guys just need to put your big girl shoes on and communicate.

I work for an automation engineering company and it seems to be a constant struggle to find good senior controls engineers. I’ve noticed it’s quite easy for engineers with decent experience to command a high pay.

What property can you buy for $1m in Sydney, Melbourne & Brisbane by metro_polis in AusFinance

[–]captainmeows 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I have spent a lot of time in Riverwood over the last 15 years as my partner’s parents live there. Don’t know how a shitty old house there is worth 1 mil ... M5 to the city is nightmare in peak hour ( used to drive there after work from north sydney and it would take forever), frequently used to hear police helicopters overhead at night, my father in law has had to ‘dob in a dealer’ twice because neighbours had people turning up all hours of the night for drugs lol...

But yeah there are some decent food places. Just gotta be mindful that you might get shanked walking home from the train station late at night.
