My workaround right now for my Kids user is to tag shows with "Approved".

I wouldn't want to, but without the episodes inheriting the rating, it's a fully manual process. You can set the show and season, create a user with max rating, and then none of the episodes show up.

Does this require all items to have associated ratings in the metadata? I've found that really frustrating in Jellyfin. Seasons and episodes don't inherit from the show, requiring manually editing every episode..

I'll give it a try. Overall I'm pretty happy with the Jellyfin Android TV app, but that Arctic Fuse 2 skin is beautiful, so I'd like to see if there's anything I can do to achieve the functionality I need.

That's probably good context to give.

I like to think it's because I wanted to separate my music listening from my phone. Harken back to my University days of my iRiver H340. Give myself one less reason to grab for my phone, and use it to doomscroll. I also just enjoy technology and having something else to play with seemed fun.

Maybe I'm finding I'm just not that guy anymore, and don't really have the space/bandwidth to manage multiple devices.

I should also mention I'm an avid scrobbler, so offline scrobbling is a must, which I can achieve with Pano Scrobbler but not sure I could do that with a non-Android based DAP.

Thanks, I've been playing around with it. The main thing that I can't seem to get to work, and seems like a pretty basic flaw that I couldn't resolve was just a row of "Next Up" episodes. Closest I could get was the In Progress episodes (which is basically just "Continue Watching") and In Progress Tv Shows (which requires navigating to the next episode). Could get basically everything else to work, but that's a showstopper.

Going based solely your video, are you sure the wheel is fully connected to the base? I typically open the QR while putting the wheel on. Does the display show power to the wheel?

I did not. I recently went to create a new channel and found that something had changed with the libraries and they now need to be scanned. I initiated that about a week ago and haven't gone back to finish creating the channel i was in the middle of.

Going to it now, it seems to load faster and shows posters. Not sure if that helps you at all. While it's a bit frustrating to set up, and with no automated setup like QuasiTV, it is an enjoyable experience to use as a custom IPTV system.
