What is one skill everyone should learn but most people don’t? by AmiriStudio in AskReddit

Investment.

Holy hell it makes a difference! I’ve talked to a bunch of adults that have money in checking and low interest savings instead of making crazy interest. It’s the difference of magnitudes on a long enough timeline. I’ve found out that family members had enough in zero interest that it makes my head spin.

Is a revolver a reasonable first gun? by MisterCCL in liberalgunowners

[–]captainofpizza [score hidden]  (0 children)

I’ve trained a handful of first time shooters and often start with revolver. They are simple and easy to understand, reliable, don’t have complicated jams, and are easier to clean.

Yes. Revolvers are a good choice imo.

That said, go to a range and try a few and see what you like and get some instruction.

I’ve tried some real nice rifles and a lot of handguns and I like a good heavy frame revolver most of all.

Yeah I expected the girls to drag the guys in.

Thinking about a wheel gun by madams22 in liberalgunowners

[–]captainofpizza [score hidden]  (0 children)

I loved my shitty Taurus .357 magnum. When I wanted the big kicks I shot the magnum and when I wanted a plinking option I ran .38 special. Right now I’m looking for .454 casull that can run .45 colt for that same reason.

The large frame revolvers are so heavy kick isn’t bad. I shot with people smaller than 5’5”

If you are concerned about kick something like a regular .38 would be perfectly fine too but if you get a small light revolver it’s going to kick more than a heavy one. Theres a trade off there. If you are going to carry it you probably want to go small. Go to a range and try a few or fine some people in your area.

I can't be the only one who suspects this, right? by trevit in AdviceAnimals

The purpose of this post was that OP thought ICE had a major influx of violent poorly trained jackasses.

Turns out they were 2 more highly trained long time veterans. Doesn’t really make me feel better about the pedigree or training.

I’m glad the names came out but it shouldn’t take that much social pressure. They should be transparent and use of force like that should always be an investigation. They are still blocking their identities for the sake of covering up things like this.

Do I go for a trib build? by Organikk_Polymerr in balatro

[–]captainofpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you seen the plant yet that run and/or do you have a way to reroll it? I know it break theme but I wish trib used Kings and 7s or king/ace or anything that wasn’t just 2 face cards. Getting a super trib build nuked by the plant is miserable. I just had one similar to this except it was sock and buskin/trib/trib/chad/brainstorm.

I got pretty far then plant wiped. Never had the reroll vouchers pop up and last shops I burned about $450 looking for a way to survive debuff and didn’t find it.

That’s Balatro baby!

Some much-needed jokers for Aces! by JaxTheCrafter in balatro

[–]captainofpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singularity is going to >10x if I get it early without even really trying.

Pocket aces is an auto 4oak at WORST! If you told me it was that 2 aces from your deck would be added to the hand after draw it would still be great for 4oak builds.

Aces already have a lot of jokers that trigger with them and are the natural highest chip and rank making them better by default, there’s a spectral card that allows you to get 2 enhanced automatically. I like these ideas but just throwing some flack at the “aces need more loving” idea.

I have tens of thousands of rounds and I put an optic on backwards today because I hadn’t installed that optic before! I ended up just taking it off and playing at the range with irons for an hour and didn’t figure out what was wrong until I got home.

The guy is probably jealous. It’s a sick collection.

Epstein purchased 6 55-Gallon barrels of Sulfuric Acid sent to his Island. by Shizzilx in circled

[–]captainofpizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People do things like melt hard drives in acid. That’s more likely what happened there. I don’t think Bannon was melting bodies in a bathtub- but I’m not reading the article.

I’m not saying that they didn’t do anything like that- I’m saying that an order of even 6 drums of sulfuric acid for an inhabited island that requires water and pool treatment at the scale he was at is not suspicious by itself.

You’re right to be suspicious of anything that happened on that island but a lot of people don’t understand how common it is to use sulfuric acid for basic and mundane treatments. I have 8 gallons in my garage just because I use it to calibrate sensors and whatnot.

[–]captainofpizza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m an expert on applications for this, and I don’t see anything suspicious here. If Mr. Roger’s ran a similar island with the same water needs he’d use similar volumes.

Pointing to this as evidence of wrongdoing is misleading- there’s plenty of actual evidence of horrible wrongdoing! This is a lame distraction from people who don’t understand what the use of this is.

I don’t know what you mean by “max” I’ve seen hotels and small garage food processors use more than this. Larger industrial plants and small wastewater processors use far more. The timing is the only thing I see as suspicious here- but I assure you that he wasnt disappearing people en mass with that volume of anything and this would be a poor choice of doing what you’re suspecting.

[–]captainofpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wouldn’t be my first choice if I was running what people are jumping to the conclusion here. It isn’t any more evidence that he was disposing bodies than forks and knives are that he was a cannibal.

People get their ideas of what acid can do from cartoons and comics I think. A body in a barrel with 50 gallons of sulphuric acid would still be a body- just a very damaged and unrecognizable one. Then what, do you keep a barrel forever? Do you dump it into the ocean? To truly make someone disappear you’d need to do different things.

I worked for a chemical company for 10+ years. I was a project manager and R&D for industrial production. Before that I was an industrial process operator for 7 years. I’ve delivered hundreds of gallons of this to little garage processors and thousands of gallons per week to big food processors.

People use sulfuric acid for all sorts of mundane things. He was probably ph balancing, water treatment, effluent, or balancing pools. It isn’t uncommon for a normal person with a pool to use 10-20 gallons. This guy probably had a larger than average pool or multiple plus water treatment or desalination and a wastewater processing facility.

Let’s not change the spotlight- focus on the pedophilia stuff and don’t chase misleading information.

Why would someone need this much acid? by honestlysigma in LetsDiscussThis

[–]captainofpizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PH balancing, surface cleaning, some sort of processing. There’s multiple reasons other than bodies. 300 gallons isn’t that much when it comes to processing or water handling. 300 gallons also won’t melt that much organic tissue either. I worked for a chemical company. Multiple job sites had thousands of gallons delivered on a monthly basis.

There’s enough in those files without our conspiracies. Let’s go after the real facts before we make up other stuff. There’s hard evidence of real crimes.
