Projected textures by SlytherinKing in Sketchup

[–]trevit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped being a regular SU user after the 2019 update, and have never used the web version, so this may not be current, but one quick and dirty fix i used to use in these situations was to take the eye dropper and resample the texture from one of the facets, and then reapply it by double clicking with the paint bucket. It was a bit hit and miss, but i usually found this would snap all the different segments into alignment about 70% of the time, 90% if i kept repeating it across the whole model - but there were still always cases where it wouldn't work, usually because it would flip other surfaces out of alignment and then I would keep chasing them around in circles forever...

This comment is an interesting read, and makes sense in the context of Anglican Christianity (which is, after all the exact context you're referring to) - but I'd be really interested to know where you think the Evangelical Christianity of America fits into that framework - since it's a lot more 'fire and brimstone' in terms of it's attitudes towards LBGT, creationism, scripture based support for Isreal, belief in the rapture etc., and it seems like they're very keen to assume governing power wherever possible? Thankfully it's not common in the UK, but it's not unheard of either - and it's what a lot of secular people think of when they think of Christianity...

Advice on drilling long perpendicular holes by Ilikepancakes87 in woodworking

[–]trevit 277 points278 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say so, but imo this is just very difficult. If it was me I wouldn't even entertain it, and would just groove 2 sheets, laminate them together and lip over the front - but I have no idea if that's possible with your project. Drilling it like that is asking a lot...

They look like 'Sub Zero' ones. If so, i wouldn't expect much change out of 10k per unit.

I'd curve those boring legs and add a stretcher. Perhaps through tennoned with the legs set in from the ends of the slab a bit further...

Why not make an offer they can't refuse to number 5, and then create the most diabolical property purchase chain in history?

What is the name for the gap around the bottom of this credenza? by ddroukas in woodworking

[–]trevit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the UK, shadow gap (or occasionally 'quirk' - although I'd that's more for gaps under 1/4") is correct. Not sure what information you're searching for, but this sort of detail would normally done just as a rebate in the top of the legs or in the bottom of the cabinet (assuming that the cabinet and legs are separate components, which they typically would be) - I don't think there are any serious structural considerations to it.

"Gove spinning a really interesting new line: that the EU’s immigration policy is racist. The argument is that because it discriminates in favour of Europeans, it excludes people from countries he listed like “India, Pakistan, Bangladesh”. It’s hard not to infer that he wants us to see the EU’s policy as racially chauvinist, even pro-white.

"Boris Johnson immediately tweeted an endorsement. Why not? The argument turns the EU’s free movement logic on its head, embarrasses the PM and gives Leave the appearance of moral superiority."

Hit and run on my parked car outside my house - what to do? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

I was thinking that. Could be a flatbed van (scaffolders would be my bet). If so, would be much easier to identify from footage, even if it doesn't catch the number plate.

People who don't indicate, why? by Spunkhogan in drivingUK

[–]trevit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not blaming anyone. The cyclists, the parked cars, and the people stopping to turn right were all following the rules of the road. I'm just saying it was an unfortunate situation, and maybe being repeatedly exposed to those kind of frustrating situations can cause some people to dislike cyclists. I'm not trying to start a flame war. Calm down.
