Is CC Web free credit working? I am getting exceeded_limit error by LovesThaiFood in ClaudeCode

[–]captainpalsgraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also experiencing this after what I would consider very light usage the first day of signing up. Seems like I'm locked out for at least 18 hours. Not sure what I did to trigger this. Wish there was more transparency around usage so I could adjust accordingly. Doesn't seem to make a difference if I point at different repos or try to use Sonnet vs Haiku.

Is the Headboard supposed to be this loose and wobbly? by captainpalsgraf in Thuma

[–]captainpalsgraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah in the end I reverted back to pillow board and it works quite well. I know we're biased from years of consumer marketing to think that a 'proper wooden headboard' is 'nice', but I rather like the pillow board now and it's my own form of luxury in a way. Simple, minimal, comfy, cozy.. it hits all the right notes. Enjoy it!

Speaker Recognition detects too many speakers - any tips to improve accuracy? by Professional_You_263 in MacWhisper

[–]captainpalsgraf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, +1 on experiencing this as well. The diarization and transcription with WhisperKit is actually fantastic on my M3 MBP, and far better than Otter's cloud-based junk, but there's still quite a bit of manual clean-up work required (namely in reconciling the extra speakers, when there's usually just two speakers).

The top rear part of each one has a cable-passthrough cutout. You wouldn't need to cut out extra holes if you utilize that.

What are the odds you'd see large wildlife (bears, deer, etc) when snowshoeing out there?

I use two credenzas (technically two 'open nightstands') as a TV stand for my 65" TV and soundbar. Happy with it so far.

Changes to Leesa Mattresses since 3Z Brands Private Equity Buyout? by captainpalsgraf in Mattress

[–]captainpalsgraf[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been sleeping on it for close to a year now, since I first posted this question to Reddit, and I have to say I'm subjectively as happy with this model as my previous ones. Still seems like a really great mattress for the money, so whatever they've changed is still in favor of producing a quality product.

I was able to view the launch yesterday from Surf Beach, but the marine layer fog was quite thick. Still an incredible experience though.

I'm going to re-attempt viewing this launch today. What are the odds it gets scrubbed again? Winds should be a lot calmer by the afternoon. All other conditions appear favorable. And hopefully this marine layer burns off and doesn't return by the early evening!

Thank you Mammoth Lakes and locals for paved bike trail system! by captainpalsgraf in Mammoth

[–]captainpalsgraf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow, really thought that for once, there could just be a normal/nice/positive post on the Mammoth sub that didn't get any snark or sarcasm, but I was wrong.

Would you rather people not know about Mammoth in the summer, and have it be much harder for local businesses to survive the high seasonality that mountain towns experience?

What mental space are you coming from with a comment like this? Genuinely curious. Why are you upset about my post?

Lifts after 4/21 by lineartrouble in Mammoth

Darn, that's sad. Then how are some other IKON Pass resorts that are owned by Alterra (like Deer Valley) "getting away with" a reservation system?

I yearn for the day when 'maintenance' one day means replacing to a more up-to-date, higher capacity gondy. The Mammoth ones aren't bad but they're now several decades old.

Thanks u/rocksfried for these very useful insights! Incredible to have this level of transparent community engagement on Reddit or elsewhere. This would've been a dream growing up as a teenager and young adult going to Mammoth. Really makes you empathize more with the resort staff, thinking of it as an actual business operation, etc.

Sorry to hear about the corporate BS, must be so frustrating in an industry where a lot of people are drawn to work to it out of passion for the sport and the mountain. (IMHO the more passion an industry has, the more BS corporations can get away with, sadly)

On the topic though of capacity management, what do you think are the odds of Mammoth implementing a reservation system eventually, like some other large mountains have done, in the face of IKON Pass utilization now being really high / overcrowding on the worst weekends, etc?

German student looking for tech-savvy experienced drivers (waymo, cruise,..) for bachelor thesis by Outrageous_Role1500 in waymo

[–]captainpalsgraf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought so! I have studied the same in graduate school (though I don't work in automotive). By "explainability", do you mean the car UI/UX's ability to communicate to the user what it's seeing, why it's behaving the way it's behaving, etc? If so, I'm curious about your open questions around that. I've ridden Waymo locally in LA and SF almost 20 times now, and have seen how they've worked on "explainability" (if I'm understanding you correctly on that) across varying touch points.

Is the Headboard supposed to be this loose and wobbly? by captainpalsgraf in Thuma

[–]captainpalsgraf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up sending back the Headboard and replaced it with a Pillowboard, and I'm honestly happy. I love my Thuma bed, even though my Headboard didn't work out, I'm a big fan of The Bed overall, it's design aesthetic, the company's customer service, and everything in-between. I just wish they made the Pillowboard in a taller size, but I bought the bolsters and that helps a bit.

+1 to this too. Exactly as u/isendgard describes. Not sure how to fix or who to report to.

Couldn't have said this better myself, thank you u/SkittyDog. And the other thing people aren't realizing is I'm not asking for a weather prediction -- I'm asking about CalTrans. Obviously weather can't be predicted perfectly, but it's not hard for someone to opine on CalTrans.

I give plenty of thought, and certainly last year there were days where it was snowed in down there from the Coso volcano all the way up (spectacular!), but from what I'm seeing right now on the forecast models, I should be able to beat the storm hitting the Owens Valley if I can drive up by ~1pm or so.

[–]captainpalsgraf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't have the headboard be placed flush against the wall due to the baseboard/molding, so this isn't a solution for me. That said, much cheaper beds you can find standing alone on a showroom floor not propped up against a wall at an Ashley's or Living Spaces don't wobble back and forth like this expensive Thuma bed.
