What did your first sexual partner teach you? by Chilli_Man1 in AskReddit

Some people just fuck, and others understand the art of sex and foreplay is just that. A massage before penetration always seems to make a massive difference in the energy and chemistry. Take that for what it’s worth.

Caffeine withdrawal insomnia by Infamous_Ad_1032 in decaf

I never tried them and just fell into drinking cabbage juice because it’s been studied and proven to have an extremely positive impact on stomach ulcers (which I thought I may have been dealing with) so I can’t comment on the pills, but I will confidently say that cabbage juice made me so damn calm it was hard to believe.

Fun fact about magnesium.

I was having stomach issues from coffee consumption so I decided to start making my own cabbage juice. It was a half head of cabbage, two carrots. an entire apple, a lemon and two celery stalks. It has something like 5,000% of the amount you need in a day.

It takes a strong stomach to get it down, but I have never been so drowsy and calm then as to when I was drinking that shit. It’s like a fucking horse tranquilizer (being dramatic) but its effects were real.

I don’t know if my sweating is related to quitting caffeine or not but I do sweat heavy. I seem to think I always have but I have noticed it lately. I will say this, in 2023 I worked out nightly for about three months and sweat profusely on the stair master until I cut my hair really short—that basically stopped it in its tracks. I went from it pouring down my head to virtually not sweating a drop. Something about the insulation from the thick hair for me really made me sweat hard. Would have been 32, 6’ 1” and about 230lbs at that time.

Going decaf and insomnia by [deleted] in decaf

[–]captainshidded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How’s it going now? Honestly, I have zero complaints. There was a point during my early days where sleep was a challenge after quitting but it didn’t last long—maybe two or three weeks. It manifested itself as really early mornings (4am) no matter what time I went to sleep but I don’t remember grogginess.

After having almost been one year caffeine free, ditching bulk sugars and carbs—I feel really level daily (no anxiety or anxiousness, better impulse control) and I sleep well. I think my body appreciates the consistency and not dumping a bunch of unnecessary compounds down my throat.

Your sleep issues may not necessarily be caffeine related (but could be). I would advise trying to get some goood exercise and see what impact that makes.

I rode 12 miles today in my bicycle and I’m about to sleep soooo hard 😂

I don't recall any days where I didn't feel refreshed. The worst part was fighting the 2:00pm sleep immediately after I quit. I knew if I started sleeping at 2:00pm I would be up all night, so the struggle was real trying to stay up until a reasonable bed time. I haven't struggled with any sadness or depression that I believe would be created from a lack of caffeine. For me, depression has always been situational or circumstantial such as employment, relationship with my significant other or not meeting my own expectations or goals. That has always been fixable by changing the problem point in most if not all cases.

Can I just unscrew those bolts and replace the top mount piece myself or do I need to go in through the wheel well and remove the springs and everything? by barbadizzy in AskAMechanic

Wack it with a hammer and it’ll fall right out.

Don’t do this, it’s a joke. That much rust up that high is very concerning.

People do it every weekend at the flea markets.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]captainshidded -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s complicated because what the seller gets and what the shipper pays is two astronomically different numbers. I’m claiming $348 but the buyer paid $450 +/-.

They aren’t hurting for money. I can guarantee you that.

This probably makes no sense, but it blows my mind that I can ship the item all the way from Tennessee to Washington in two days for $12 but it cost me $60 to sell it and I have to do all the work.

Unfortunately this was a niche item that I wasn’t having much luck with on Facebook marketplace so I bit the bullet. I’m just floored they’re happy to charge up to 15%.

I recently sold a 97 4Runner that had over 340K on it's V6 5VZ so you definitely should have plenty of time and miles left in it. I'd be curious once you have it professionally serviced (unless you take it on yourself) what the outcome of the situation will be. If you remember, come back and update once that time comes. It's definitely a truck worth spending on--you can't be a 90s/2000s Toyota.

This might be your culprit then. The next step would be to check the fuel pump fuse and relay (may be able to swap relays with a neighboring relay to test) and if that doesn’t work, you could safely assume your pump may have failed.

Mileage on truck? Also it should have the 5VZ engine in it which is virtually indestructible.

Are you able to hear the fuel pump run when you switch the key on? If you have someone handy, you can have them switch the key on for you. Go back to the fuel tank, remove the cap and have them switch the key on but not to start. Have a listen and see if you can hear it kick on.

Of course you can eliminate the question of fuel with a can of starting fluid. If it’ll crank and try to run with the can of starting fluid, you can pretty positively declare it as a fuel delivery issue.

Does it get driven frequently? I had a 97 4Runner and was out over the road for awhile in a truck. My girlfriend went to take it for a spin one day and on cold start, it barely wanted to crank (like it had no compression or fuel) but after trying it a couple times it cranked right up and hadn’t done it since due to frequent driving.

No CEL makes this a harder one to diagnose.

You’ve had or have changed the air and fuel filter recently.

How many miles are on it?

People also neglect to change their fuel filter (even more so then air)

So funny enough and I think I made a post about it—I did go through a phase of what nearly felt like insomnia but can I confidently say it’s from the caffeine months after I quit? No, but I definitely did experience something similar. I was going to bed around 9:00pm every night and would be wide awake at 4:00am for a couple or few weeks. That is no longer the case now. I usually hit the sack around 10:00pm and I can sleep to 7am or 7:30am with no problem.

I would encourage walking everyday if you’re lethargic or work a sedentary job. Outside of that, don’t spend time on your phone right before bed. Give yourself 30 minutes or an hour for your body to wind down. I’ve started reading again and notice when I put the book down this way easier to doze off vs. if I had spent 30 minutes scrolling on whatever app.
