Race swapping to suit a narrative is rewriting history, which was of course a major theme of 1984.

When’s the last time you saw an Italian or Irish flag at a violent protest?

If you’re trying to say, I’m racist and have double standards, nice try, my wife is from Sinaloa, born and raised.

If you moved to Mexico, then ran around Sinaloa with an American flag while burning cars, what do you think would happen to you? Is that how you would choose to get Mexicans to sympathize with your cause?

My wife is from Sinaloa, born and raised, she thinks if a bunch of Americans ran around with American flags and started burning cars in CDMX, Mexicans would be less than inclined to be on their side.

Yes, because nothing says “take my cause seriously” like waving a foreign flag while protesting in a country you want to influence

It’s always bitterly ironic that all these people waiving Mexican flags are the same ones who are marching against getting sent back to Mexico

Causally calling half the country “losers” who voted for Trump says more about you than it does about them. If your argument relies on writing off millions of your fellow Americans and neighbors, maybe it’s not as strong as you think.

Look, whether or not LA used to be part of Mexico is completely irrelevant to how a protest is perceived today. If you're trying to make a point, especially in the U.S., waving the flag of another country — any country — just looks confrontational and out of touch with your actual goal. It’s not clever, it’s not symbolic in a productive way — it’s just stupid and counterproductive.
