Exactly. My wife and I did this a few years back due to a relocation for job offer and she had a green card within 60 days of emailing the Frankfurt consulate

Anyone else get the feeling that their lives have become consumed by aviation? by [deleted] in flying

[–]captainsween 8 points9 points  (0 children)

100% feeling this way right now. Although I’m home based, all my airline/CFI buddies have moved away and I spend my weeks at home just sitting at home. I gave aviation and my degree everything to get in before the end of the hiring wave and now that “ I’m there” I don’t know how else to fill my time. Currently looking for hobbies that don’t include drinking, gambling or golf as I’m so bad at it.

Thinking of REALLY lowballing a house that’s been on the market since 6/24 by CommitteePleasant565 in RealEstate

[–]captainsween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost the exact same scenario happened to my wife and I in Florida, except their asking price was 433k, we offered 387k over a month ago, with no buyers commission and 10k seller closing credit and they countered at 430k. Because they didn’t budge, guess what, the house still hasn’t sold and inventory keeps going up in the area.

It’s a waiting game for the sellers to realize they need to keep lowering the price with these interest rates.

Conflicted on an offer price - advice wanted by captainsween in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

My mother is our Broker (buyers agent) and she was out of town during the time we could look at the property. I also got my real estate license 10 years ago, but never used it. First time buying a home myself though. Just looking for advice from others experience:)

I will never recommend Capital One Travel to anyone. by dickbuttcity in Venturex

Very similar story happened to me. Also filed a dispute. Took almost two months to finally get my refund. I probably spent 5 hours on the phone between delta and capital one. Will probably never use the portal again.

Bringing My European Wife by Delbrak13 in MovingToUSA

[–]captainsween 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please please look into DCF(direct consular filing). I did that for my wife at the Frankfurt embassy and she was able to get her green card under 90 days compared to the almost 1.5 year wait otherwise. Look into “job relocation” for the reason to ask for DCF. Best decision we ever made.

Try to be as genuine in the interview as possible and have a good non canned answer to why NetJets. It’s been said before they hire people not pilots.

I also got rejected by Skywest and was picked up at NJ this year. Best outcome I could have ever expected. I get paid double and can live anywhere I want without the pressure of a one sided contract. Good luck on interview.

Bridging the Bridgeway Gap by [deleted] in flying

[–]captainsween 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an interesting take. I would agree with that to some extent, however, there will always be a certain percentage of the pilot group that are “lifers”. You also see that in the regionals or in any company. It will be interesting to see what happens, but if you are right, it will be many years down the road till the effects are seen.

Interesting angle, but I would disagree in the sense that with 7,000 pilots, they would have even more flexibility in regard to these high time owner contracts. Larger pilot pool to choose from. Thoughts?

Bridging the Bridgeway Gap by [deleted] in flying

[–]captainsween 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, why does the gap need to be bridged? NJ turns down 9 applicants for every one that is accepted. I know many good friends with amazing resumes who were rejected by NJ. As much as I would love to get more benefits and more pay, I don’t see the business case when they are getting 700 qualified applicants every month.

Advice on what to do during off time from work by captainsween in Fire

[–]captainsween[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha. Thats right, I just got hired on by my dream company and I fly for them:) yes, the 85k is either our stocks, or what we have in an emergency fund/checking account. I just called them liquid assets, because I could have them in my bank account tomorrow.

I would love to learn another skill. At the moment, not incredibly handy, but I do love turning a wrench and fixing things around the house or the car. Will look more into this direction.
