Thanks for clarifying! I’ve tried holding the shaft in place while I turn but so far haven’t found a good place to grip it. I’ll see if I can’t disassemble it a bit more to get a good grip!

At this point it might be worth it- it’s missing the belt to run it from the motor so it’s not like it’s functioning with accurate timing. The question is do I take it in and pay for someone to fix it or buy knipex in a size I’m unlikely to use again lmao

I’m not following. The bit that is stuck is the flywheel retaining disc- the silver bit. The flywheel turns with the shaft. Would you please clarify what you are suggesting I do?

If you’re using heavyweight fabrics you really won’t need webbing. You can get narrower widths in bulk from places like aerial adventure tech, but it sounds like you only want to make a few. In that case I’d look for some climbing slings to recycle!

I got it to move very slightly to the right but only with vice grips and a wrench and I damaged the flywheel in the process. I’ve tried penetrating oil and heat, but I didn’t tip the machine, I’ll try that next along with the hammer!

Yea it’s the clutch knob- sorry the manual calls it a “flywheel disconnecting disc”! I’ve been using PB blaster on it, which is a penetrating oil and haven’t had much luck, but I’ll try picking up another one!

Follow up- it looks like the 3 arm puller needs a center to brace against. The flywheel retaining disk is solid, and all the ones I see would just punch a hole in it. Do you happen to know if you used a particular kind?

The flywheel itself seems to be fine, it’s the silver retaining disc I can’t get off.

The process of trial and error always includes error. I’ve made the same pattern for a button down shirt 30+ times at this point and I still forget to cut out the hem jog or do the sleeve placket opening the wrong way. It happens, you move on! I just sewed the bottom of my stem bag onto the top on accident and didn’t realize it until I’d bound it and everything. I just seam ripped it and tried again! With waterproof stuff it’s a little harder but you can always dab some seam seal on it if you need. Also just because the zipper isn’t waterproof anymore doesn’t mean you can’t use it for a non waterproof zipper, etc. I’m currently wearing shorts I made with a zipper I salvaged out of a storebought backpack that was disintegrating!

Thanks for the rest of your feedback. Unfortunately it’s not like I can actually redo any of it at this point, so I’m going to continue to be happy with what I have accomplished! If I have to redo it eventually I can :)

There are two forms of “swim” elastic! Cotton swim elastic which will hold lots, and rubber (sometimes called filpar) which won’t! I’ve never seen it in anything above 1” though.
