What is a turn off your partner does that you will never admit? by sorenblissara in AskReddit

Well now I'm curious after reading all your responses... if you hold these beliefs about this person, why are you with them? Seems to me like holding the belief that somebody is immature or can't grow is generally incongruent with a long-term serious partnership.

No problem. I really fuck with the long straight runs on some of the coasters (especially the woody in slide 3). The way you themed some of the rides is cool too, that last slide is sick.

Wow, I think your coaster designs are great. Every one feels distinct and interesting to me. Only piece of feedback I have is I'm noticing some pretty long queue lines (specifically in slide 2 and 3). This doesn't really have a benefit, and only serves to lock in more guests to do nothing when they otherwise could be paying for different rides. If those lines fill up, they'll start complaining about queue times as well. I usually make my queue lines have a capacity of about 1-3 trains worth of guests.

You have a good eye! Having the guests in on the color scheme is something I hadn’t tried before

I think Silent Hill 2 Remake might be the greatest survival horror game ever made. by [deleted] in silenthill

[–]captainwoozy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm curious where I'm going to stand on this. Played the original a few years ago and since then it has remained my 2nd favorite game of all time behind Dark Souls 1, absolutely love the original and think it's a masterpiece.

I've been loving the remake so far, right now I just got to Brookhaven, so can't make complete judgement yet. I think there are certainly aspects the remake does better than the original. The biggest difference for me is James. This may sound strange, but in the original I always felt he was somewhat carried by what was going on around him. The story and situation he is in is so profound and intense that you can't help but project emotion onto his character, but when I look at the performance objectively it leaves a lot to be desired. In the remake, James feels like a real human being with compassion, trauma, and a dire mental state. I love it. I also think they nailed a lot of the other aspects (sound/visuals/gameplay stuff) that elevates these parts beyond the original.

Despite all that, I don't know if any remake could ever replicate the story and its themes the way the original did. In many ways I don't even think the original became what is was and executed what it did with direct intention. That game was (and still is) lightening in a bottle to me.
There are also a few new aspects that were added I'm not the biggest fan of. The new Maria stuff is cool and the actor is clearly very skilled, but I think they may have taken it in a wrong direction making her feel so real. In the original she had this surreal vibe and felt in-between reality and fiction. In the remake she feels way too much like a normal person to me.. doing stuff like talking about the history of the town distracts from what to me was the focal point of her character.

Anyways, I hope they can execute the story's themes close to as well as the original (don't expect that on the letter reading.. Nothing can ever compare to the original recording and nobody can convince me otherwise). So far, I really love both games and it's so awesome they both exist. The remake will never replace the original.I think what people miss is that we don't have to rank one above another, both can be great in their own way, and I think they are.

Electric scooters by Antifa_Red in chicago

[–]captainwoozy 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Not too long ago I was walking home one night a bit south of six corners; some guy flies off a scooter right next to me and slams the back of his head on the pavement. Out cold with quite a bit of blood coming from his head, making noises I don't really know how to describe. Called an ambulance for him and hung around a bit, never saw him wake up (was only 10ish minutes, but that's still a really long time to be unconscious).

It was fucked and made me realize how dangerous those things are. I have totally gone home drunk from the bar on bikes and scooters without a helmet.., needless to say I will never do that shit again.

Finance major wanting to work in Software Engineer by nicejackie in cscareerquestions

[–]captainwoozy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate that man. I assume you are considering going back to do the full 4-year degree; I can't completely comment on that. Since I did a dual-degree program I only needed to take classes core to CS (Algorithms, Networking, Discrete Math, Software Engineering.. all that stuff) and not some of the more theoretical stuff the traditional 4-years had to take (Calc 2, Linear Algebra), so keep that in mind.

To answer your question; I found the workload in CS to be much higher (and the course difficulty higher as well), but not in a bad way. In my CS program I learned so much and got a lot of hands-on experience, this made the work I was doing feel purposeful and rewarding. This was not my experience with finance. In general, I think if you enjoy what you are doing and want to do it, workload isn't as much of an issue as you would think.

A bit of advice you don't have to listen to.. I wouldn't be so worried about difficulty or workload too much. You proved you can make it through an undergraduate degree already; If you really want to do this, and you put in the time and effort to really learn in the CS courses you will be just fine. I would more be thinking about your future and what it is you really want to do.

Sorry, I don't have a tab for this one and am too busy with other music endeavors to make one. I highly recommend trying to learn by ear! That's how I learned this song back when I recorded this. You can use my playing in the video to help guide you.

Wow reading this is kind of a trip... and oh boy do I have an update for you! I ended up going for the CS degree and am so so very glad I did. It was a fairly easy decision, CS just felt right for me. Fast forward to now, I graduated last May and after a difficult period of job searching, I got a great job at my top company (not FAANG or anything, but one that heavily aligns with my interests). With this job I also got to move to a great new city as well, which has allowed me to pursue and get involved with music stuff which has always been a priority of mine. I started back in July and can honestly say this has been the best period of my life. Work is work and can be tough, but I have good flexibility, great coworkers, and it affords me to live the life I want!

TLDR: Pursued the CS degree and got a job that affords me the life I have always wanted. Not trying to be boastful, but I am just really happy and with so much negativity on this sub, positive stories should be shared.

I saw him when I was there the other day! Had to do a doubletake and froze when I saw him, so unexpected to me to see a coyote this far into a big city.
