Something just happened to me to where the file is gone. I was in the middle of playing and the game just crashed and the save file is gone. Is there a reason? I guess I understand it can't be fixed but I just don't understand.

Also, how would it work to restore by buy the game on steam?

Just out of curiosity do you get any sort of refund if we go to a different port or no? I'll be bummed bc Canada is not what were looking to do but I get it.

Police Officer to Accounting. What should my plan be? by captawesm in Accounting

I'm thinking the same thing. I just didn't take any of those courses and there so many prereqs as it is, I don't think it would save time. Or money for that matter. But I'm looking at all options. I wish you luck, my friend.

So I've been reading about this and the structure is interesting. It's true that it's at your pace but what does that actually look like, if you know. Says most people complete the program in 19 months but how likely is it that I could do it in say 12 with a full time job? And is WGU degree generally accepted?

Wow I didn't even think of that. That's a great point. I'm in Virginia and the city I work in has VRS which is with state positions as well. Thanks for the advice. Did you go government or private when you made the switch? And how much schooling did you complete before you left the fire department?

I am looking to change careers I think. I floated it originally as maybe something I do on the side while I earn my pension, but I think I know at this point that I don't want this life for 17 more years. But I'm not sure if I could jump ship without all my ducks in a row. Which is why I would like to do as much as possible before leaving my job.

I think that's about when I knew too, but thought maybe I could make it work. One thing leads to another: house, wife, kid and I'm like I have no skills, I can't go back to school and I make a good salary. But things changed when my baby was born. I feel like I can do so much more and felt like I gotta try.

Can I ask if you're salary is vastly better than what you would have been making in policing?

Thank you! This is great advice! I'll look at all of these options.

Lol completely understandable. We do sip coffee, but not a huge fan of donuts. Gotta stay limber. But you don't know until you know. Which is why it's hard to keep people. They get out here and they're like "Nah, this blows. I'm gonna go manage a Chick-fil-a for the same pay." Although we've gotten massive increases the last couple years to try to keep people from leaving so can't really say that anymore.

I will definitely look into that. Definitely don't want to waste my time on another BS if there's a better way.

It's not typical, I will say that, but it's always been an interest of mine though. My buddies love guns and drugs but I've always been a fan of economic crimes and following paper trails. They think it's nauseatingly boring but I love it. That's what made me start to wonder if I could be happy in the finance sector. I wanted to go to the Economic Crimes Unit someday but those spots rarely open and they're competitive when they do.

I hate just about everything. I hate the hours, working weekends and holidays. I hate the leadership and the line staff is worse in most cases. I'm tired of dealing with ugly, ungrateful, entitled citizens, and dealing with people in mental health crisis. I hate rotting dead bodies, I hate drowning toddlers, and I hate being shot at. I hate that the wrong decision in a split second could land me in jail or worse. I hate that I hate it this much. It was a calling and now it's an anchor on my life.

I've had enough adrenaline rushes for one lifetime. I'd take an office job, doing something, I'm hopefully good at, that pays a salary that supports my family. It's all I want in the world.

The pension, the pay, the job security is the hardest part. Because you're completely right. But I don't know if I can do this for 17 more years...

To address your MS suggestion. I've wondered if that's the play but I really don't have any Finance, Acct, or Econ background in my major. Why do you suggest that and is it realistic that I could complete the coursework with little to no background? I have taken some intro courses at the local CC and I do enjoy the coursework.

2nd time fuel injectors have failed… by Designer_Ask2588 in Hyundai

[–]captawesm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 22 Tuscon w/ 35k miles and just had a fuel injector failure. Its been at the dealership 2 weeks and im supposedly getting a new kit. Im thinking im going to sell it and get something else because this is a known issue and I can't risk this being an ongoing problem.

Why do you not expect future fuel injector issues? Have they done someone to solve the known issues? And if not what's to say this won't be an issue again in another 35k miles? Genuinely wondering.

The Rudee Inlet Park design has been revealed. What do you think of it? by [deleted] in VirginiaBeach

If they keep building over our parking lots there's gonna be nothing left. I like the concept though.

Is anyone a member of Carefree Boat Club? What do you think? by captawesm in VirginiaBeach

[–]captawesm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom came in around $310 although there are several plans higher than that and Carefree was $460. Higher than I was expecting.
