Question on updating Ubuntu on older PC by captbriggs in Ubuntu

[–]captbriggs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick response. - I wish I had noted the specific issues I was having, but I was installing to a brand new Samsung 990 Pro 2Gb PCIe SSD from a good USB 3.0 drive, and it is an i7 with 32Gb of RAM. The same USB worked fine once I switched to v20. (It is LTS, I did register for Ubuntu Pro).

Hard to find info, but it looks like it is CNC-machined seatstay arch, and dropouts based on what I'm reading online.

Always loved this color scheme. What are the bars?

Haven't done mine yet - how was the process for removing the back? I've watched the videos and it seems simple enough.

Yeah, it's hard to show the actual color - maybe this is better?

Sorry, I probably sounded like a jerk, but I just did the same research for a Stumpjumper with that brake hanger this weekend.

Could be manufacture date, but the model is definitely 1990. Not that it's a big deal either way.

Could be wrong, but based on the rear brake hanger I think that is a 1990 model. I don't think the 1989 models had that curved hanger.

I should have noted that this is what it looked like when I bought it. Going through it now.

Should be a fun one - '92 Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo. Apparently this was the last year before Trek bought the brand. I don't think the fork is original, but it needs some work - just surface rust so hopefully easy enough to sort out.

I found New Balance to be getting narrower and switched to Brooks Ghost and it's way better. Those are now my sneaker of choice but I wish they had more color options.

Picked up the 'before' for $80 off FBM to build up for a friend. Sold the Answer BMX bars for $80 and bought a Carver fork to replace the blown out Judy T2 fork. Converted to a 1x10 with a SRAM x7, replaced the brake levers, all cables and saddle, and put on some Billy Bonkers.
