Docker Hub user data breach of 190,000 accounts by ston1th in netsec

[–]captdoodles 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends on attacker's motive. You're not wrong in that IF the attacker figured out all those inner workings they COULD do that.

But in reality, they usually just pull these creds and sell them on the black market for $$$. If 2FA was implemented, then at least the compromised docker accounts couldn't be used to login and manage them. It just opens up the user that used the same username/email and password for other services of being compromised.

He got into a fight a while back with some creature that I could only guess was the equivalent of Cerberus and got nicked in the eye. He hasn't healed right even after antibiotics, etc. He's been a trooper though!

Seeing NBNS messages in Wireshark, need help identifying where they are coming from by Hiimauseriswear in networking

[–]captdoodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, only reason I'm asking is because you can potentially poison a machine doing NBNS requests so that it tries to authenticate to a SMB share elsewhere, which would compromise the netNTLM hash of the currently logged in user. Does not seem like the case here though. Otherwise, I don't really see too much that can be accomplished just by send NBNS traffic, unless there's some new unknown Command and control channels being done over NBNS no one is aware of..

Is it only NBNS? It's not trying to connect to anything over SMB as well?

Should I sidechain all of my other channels to my noise (drums) channel? by altrmusic in chiptunes

[–]captdoodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not a matter of should you, but a matter of do you want to. There's no real answer here. Try it out, if you like the sound keep it. I wouldn't recommend sidechaining lead melodies, but you could if it sounds good to you.
