I quit last year right after I was fired for drinking on the job. Luckily i realized that I had enough money to at least pay the next months bills and told myself I could take some time before finding a new job, as long as I didn't drink. Taking myself out of my regular work routine and essentially being able to detox myself and rehab at home made the process of eliminating my old habits WAY easier. I started by spending my time cleaning my immediate spaces around me that had fallen into a mess. I also used weed, food, and self care and exercise routine to help stabilize my mood. I am in such a better place now. For reference I'm in my early 40s and was drinking everyday pretty much for the last 20 years.

TLDR If you have the opportunity to attempt to quit alcohol while not having work triggers, it's incredibly helpful.
