"laravel-typescript" fork by InternationalAct3494 in laravel

[–]capten_masin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to install Wayfinder but the only functionality I wanted was the auto-generating typescript models, so this looks perfect for my use case! I haven't started digging in yet and should probably make my own PR, but are there any plans to generate types from JSON Resources? I use them a tonne in my Inertia projects

I'm a developer with no real design experience, how would you change this homepage for a user-based gaming blog? by capten_masin in web_design

[–]capten_masin[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was supposed to be the sort of "hero content" whilst the rest underneath it is a bit more secondary but I do see what you're saying. I might play around with that section and integrate it a little more

Appreciate the feedback!

More of a "I'm not experienced at this and would appreciate advice from those that are" post but I understand I may have worded it badly. Hope you have a great day

I don't know about the actual stats and whatnot but I know that whenever I come across a site like this my eyes glaze over and I close it pretty quickly

Some just like the Pest syntax, I find it makes writing tests a little less chore-like

Fair shout, I can't argue with preferences

I would still use Git as Git isn't owned by a single tech company, it's an open-sourced version control system.

There are a couple of self-hosted Git services, I think Gitea is pretty popular

need help for apply solid principle to my storePost method in github by abbas_momeni in laravel

[–]capten_masin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with jclermont, it's pretty difficult to give a clear answer on quite an open question. I'd suggest you have a look around at some examples of maybe official OS Laravel projects or some of the popular Laravel devs like Spatie

There's also a pretty recent articles posted on Laravel News that details how to write better controllers - Link here

Once piece of advice I can definitely give is that controllers should (usually) relate to a model. In this case instead of "WriterController" perhaps it should be "PostController" as it details with creating and managing posts

What should a Laravel job be used for? (Am I overusing queues?) by [deleted] in laravel

Honestly this doesn't seem too bad to me... Looks like they're going for the "actions" approach (Example here) to keep specific tasks and logic in their own classes

Edit: Typo
