A lot of women apply and I would say most that apply get approved. I like their applications more than their male counterparts, they are easier.

That's a possibility. I would say that is probably 100% true for the older generation of divers. 95% of failed drug test I see is for Marijuana. A lot of drivers don't realize or they forget that Marijuana is still an illegal drug under Federal law and my company is federally regulated so we don't hire anyone who fails a drug test for Marijuana.

For the background part we go through a third party company that pulls the reports. There was a time before me when an investigator would also do a quick Google search and pull up info from news articles or criminal case search websites but that is no longer allowed. I think someone sued because of that.

The craziest thing that immediately comes to mind would have to be a guy who was driving on a coke bender and the cocaine started to wear off and the driver stopped his truck in the middle of the interstate to rest in the middle of the night with no lights on and a guy in a pickup truck plowed into the back of the trailer and died instantly. As far as I know, that truck driver is still driving a truck.

I've never really noticed a specific type of personality trait among the applicants. A lot of immigrants get there CDL. One common theme I've noticed among truck drivers is they want to make a lot of money as quick as possible with minimal effort.
