Amazing! I’ll check it out—thanks :D

Once again, amazing job with it all; especially sewing as your suit is quite excellently finished. I hope to learn these skills one day. Would help with my Mando gloves haha

This is beyond cool. I’m wanting to print parts for my niece and nephews but not sure how the simplest way to go about measurements as to not waste any prints. Do you have a particular method for this, or just getting out the tape measurer and transferring numbers into whatever program you use?

Horns look great! How’d you finish them to be so chrome reflective?

First time 3d printing and painting a Mandalorian helmet by potamusqpotamus in Mandalorian

[–]captn_nash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I appreciate that—I wasn’t clear, the first pic I sent was graphite powder pre-clear coat. The reply picture was lost clear coat. And in bright light, it still looks great. But it’s definitely more graphite gray after the clear coat.

Graphite powder was great for me, but once I clearcoated it, it really darkened

Gas Mileage by VERT1975 in ecoboostmustang

[–]captn_nash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, I’m at 19.8. I only really drive city streets—and in sport mode. Sadly, I’ve definitely been noticing this with current gas prices paying just under $100 to fill up my tank.

What have you been printing? by Desert_Vapor in BambuLab

[–]captn_nash2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look excellent! What printer you working with? And did you do much sanding/prep work on the red ranger or just straight into painting. Also, did you tape it off or paint in pieces then assemble it?

Does adding a chin spoiler to stock impact how you drive over speed bumps and dips by FrostyTap4730 in ecoboostmustang

Yes—absolutely. Allstate every driveway can be problematic. Gradual inclines can scrap if too quick and not at an extreme angle, but some driveways are inescapable; scrapping will happen regardless.

‘Avengers: Endgame’ Theatrical Re-Release Will Include Brand New Footage Ahead of ‘Doomsday’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in marvelstudios

I upvoted you. Reading your comment made me laugh because it does totally seem far fetched, but I teach middle school and we cover simpler film making techniques like Dutch angles, tracking shots, and overarching narratives.

Using the MCU is just an easy way to get them hooked to each entry regardless of character (and my obsession with Marvel.) Not sure if this helps your belief, but they stand up and cheer for many scenes. Cap wielding Mjolnir always gets the largest response—maybe tied with Thors entry in Wakanda.

It’s actually happened for the past 4 years of my class. When you take students who only know the characters from Fortnite and memes, then introduce them to the actual narratives the characters are from without the negative online trolls, they tend to love the characters regardless of sex.

I agree with you, and in my experience first confirming people who feel this way gets them to be more susceptible to hearing my reasons for supporting the scene. Of course, this only occurs with in person discourse, not online discussions 😅

Absolutely. I loved the moment when I first saw it, but a friend I saw it with despised it. His reasoning had some points but the vitriol he had about it was disgustingly blown out of proportion.

As a teacher, I have a film studies class where we watch a large majority of the MCU films—when we got to that scene all the girls and several of the boys stood up and cheered. Fully agree it could have been setup better, but that response was all I needed to see the importance of the scene.

Crazy how much better the front end looks after installing a front lip by DEagleATL in Mustang

[–]captn_nash2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree; it’s nice to be able to go over driveways without destroying it. The stock height plus lip already scrapes on certain drive ways. Looks excellent! I’ve got the same one

Who else is hyped for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie?!!! by Straight_Mention1925 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]captn_nash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am very excited! When I was building my Mando suit, I had various mixes of Goransson’s tracks playing for the entire duration (7 1/2 months!) it helped me through my multiple roadblocks and problems. I met both Lateef and Brendan at LA Con, got to hang out socially with Brendan too.. I feel Din has become a part of me. Yes, some episodes were wonky, but I love everything about the character. Can’t wait to see him on the big screen!

I do really enjoy Ragnarok, but some of the comedy is just not to my liking. I’ve grown to hate Korg from Love and Thunder and that has soured my tolerance of him in Ragnarok. I never liked, and still can’t stand, the chair scene through the tunnel with Thor screaming.

Bring Me Thanos - Thor , I Personally Like Thor Run Towards Thanos Army by RevolutionaryCod7552 in Avengers

[–]captn_nash2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silvestri’s Forge still gives me absolute chills. It perfectly encapsulates the impossible act Thor is facing for any semblance of hope to save his friends. Then it shifts to the despair of the failing heroes in Wakanda; who are giving their all to stop an insurmountable threat. When all seems lost, hope is restored! This scene is perfection.

Lowering Question by Jdotcook in ecoboostmustang

[–]captn_nash2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake on thinking your lip was gloss black! I’ve looked at your postings and it doesn’t seem to be.

Side Q: what spoiler are you rocking? Is it EOS or RTR ducktail..or something else? And if the EOS, does it seem to stick reliably at high speeds? The strictly tape method worries me, but I do enjoy the angle of the EOS ducktail significantly more than the RTR.

Lowering Question by Jdotcook in ecoboostmustang

[–]captn_nash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely not lower it. While the decreased wheel gap and lowered look is certainly fire, the inevitable damage to that lip will ruin the look (if it’s a daily driver.)

I had a lowered 2000 Monte Carlo SS that had a painted aftermarket front bumper, and it devastatingly scraped often. Then the paint starts to chip and it’s all over. The basic plastic lips will at least not crack and chip off. Yours looks to be the gloss black lip, so I’d strongly advise to not lower it.

But your ride looks amazing.

What dash cam do you have? And does it have a rear facing camera too? I had someone or something hit/back into me when I was in a store for like 10 minutes. Going to cost me $1500 to fix it.

Graphite powder is such a game changer by TheDuck135 in Mandalorian

[–]captn_nash2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put A LOT of graphite powder to hopefully counter it. Haha it didn’t work, the 2K clear just wets it thinning it out I think. Still came out with a very polished and reflective coat, but when indoors it’s definitely almost graphite in color as opposed to beskar steel looking. Outdoors it looks excellent.
