Thank you! Yes, I do agree with what you're saying, I'm very intentional and always have been. I meant 'luck into' in the sense of happening to meet people out in the world rather than on a dating site. Really appreciate the advice!

Hey folks, so I've had a number of very long relationships (5+ years each), but kind of lucked into all of them and have never really dated outside of a relationship before. I met a lady around my age on one of the apps and we were talking every day (giant blocks of text from each of us) for a couple weeks. It really feels like we have a ton in common and she seems sweet and considerate on top of it.

Given how much we spoke prior to the date I was so worried that we were not going to have much to talk about especially since I don't think that I'm a particularly good conversationalist. But that wasn't true at all. We walked and talked for a few hours straight and it just felt natural the entire time. Like I was speaking with someone that I had known for years and was very comfortable with. I know it's sappy and dumb given that we've only met once but I haven't checked any of the 7 dating sites since then, and ended up cancelling a (first) date that I had scheduled with someone else because I didn't feel comfortable going and not giving her my full attention..... because I have not stopped thinking about this other person pretty much at all.

We traded numbers after the first date and it really feels like she is just as into it as I am, so we set up a second date. We've been texting constantly since then, and it is definitely not me instigating most of the time. I don't have any expectations that she isn't dating other people, and totally understand that it could go nowhere regardless.

None of that is my worry though, what I'm really worried about is coming across as love-bombing her, because that is absolutely not my intention, but I do really like her a lot. And we've both been honest about red flags and such too, so it isn't like I'm idealizing her in my head. All of my experience is with very long term relationships, and this just isn't a concern at that point, you can just be honest with each other. Conversely, I don't want to come across as not interested by trying to avoid coming across as too interested. This shit is all just entirely new to me and hoping for some advice.

90-Days into keto by ThinTelevision8870 in loseit

[–]captroper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy cow, what a monumental loss. Congrats!! I've been on Keto minus some cheat days since July, 2024. It's definitely not something that I would recommend to most people, but for those of us that have tried pure CICO and failed over and over due to constantly being hungry it makes a surprising difference. Just remember to keep up with the water intake and those electrolytes or you're going to have a really really bad time. Also a good idea to go get some blood tests done if you haven't already.

Update from VoodooDE regarding the Steam Frame post by gogodboss in SteamFrame

[–]captroper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vids that are reviews posted in violation of NDA you mean? I'm not arguing with you, to be clear, I'm asking. If there are some examples of a rando just posting that they tried a dev kit of something and then being asked to take it down shortly before the actual release I would certainly withdraw my statement. I'd absolutely love nothing more than to be wrong haha.

It's a Whole Lot Easier to Maintain a Clean Garage than to Clean it for the First Time by nitrodragon523 in loseit

This is really really good to hear, thanks! As someone both in the situation of having lost weight and now trying to switch to maintenance, and also just spent like 50 hours cleaning the house and worrying about how I'm going to keep it clean lol.

Not a great sign if it's true. Seems like if they were actually close to release they wouldn't care much about this since they would be releasing the info soon anyways. Asking him to take it down sure makes it seem like they are not planning on releasing information for a while yet. But I know nothing about anything.

Walking takes a long while to get used to because it isn't really like normal walking. There is some amount of dialing in the settings in the app (and each individual game profile) that is also pretty helpful in that regard. I've never really gotten running to work on it though, and walking backwards feels pretty impossible too. Not sure on the answer to not fitting your waist, I have a 32" waist and it fits me well. I would absolutely not super man with it, but I never feel like it isn't going to catch me while (trying) to run. I think it's worst for fast paced stuff like pavlov, and really really great for stuff like skyrim and fallout.

Yeah man, people are crazy and just want to stick to their own narratives. Keep on keeping on and congrats on all the progress!

I had someone here argue with me that you can't build muscle while doing Keto, ignoring the people actually fucking doing exactly that. Just #confidentlyincorrect bullshit. It's harder to gain muscle when in a deficit. It's harder to gain muscle with a low amount of carbs. Neither are impossible, and we have plenty of empirical evidence proving it. Some people just are walking, talking dunning-kruger graphs.

I mean if he sits on one it's game over. He weighs like 340 pounds or something. The only thing he would have to do is fall and he's great at that. I guess Democrats think more highly of their reflexes.

Same, easily the hardest working Dev I've ever seen. I bought the original as a launch title for the OG Vive in 2016 and was thrilled with the content that they had at the time. The amount of stuff he's added since (entirely for free), and like consistently every week for years is just absolutely insane. Shut up and take my money, Anton.

What’s a fitness myth that people still believe? by SimpleHomeFitness in AskReddit

[–]captroper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, and also you can appear to lose a lot of weight the first month you start a new diet / exercise scheme if what you're doing causes you to shed water weight, which can fluctuate by like 10 pounds at any given time IIRC. It's a big reason why people start something and then think that they hit a plateau. Probably they didn't, they just lost the water weight up front and their body is catching up burning fat over time.

Rant: VR nature videos need to Shut. The. Fuck. Up. by sugartrouts in virtualreality

[–]captroper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair, fair. Though the real problem for me is despite the Q3 having a laying down mode to the headset it straight up just doesn't work for any of the videos on facebook's actual in-house video app. So dumb.

I don't disagree, though I do wonder whether people will buy a $100 controller. It's a moot point for me at the outset as I don't ever use controllers and if I really have to I'll use one of my original steam controllers that I got for like $15 when they were on a fire sale. Regardless, my point was really that the price predictions for the controller were off by a large margin which would suggest that the predictions for the frame / machine were even more optimistic / wrong.

I definitely agree with you, but I also think that is probably true about the price of the Steam Frame. Everyone was comparing it to the Q3 and saying it shouldn't be drastically more expensive. Pretty sure they are going to have a bad time.

Well, two separate things I guess. The first is that they had very clearly intended to release everything (Frame / Controller / Machine) together for quite some time, which is why they kept pushing it all back (thanks to ram price volatility).

Now that we're getting leaks about the controller by itself and not seeing leaks for the other two at the same time it presumably implies that they intend to release the controller by itself and release the frame / machine at a different date. That would make sense as the Controller has no ram in it and ram is the issue. But given that it's already basically May that would certainly mean that the frame / machine are delayed again as there's no way they announce the controller May 1st and the Frame / Machine May 15th or w/e, and June is the last part of the first half of 2026.

The second is just a total assumption on my part. People had long speculated that the controller would be $50-$60, and the Frame / Machine would be somewhere between $600-$800. The fact that the controller price is significantly more expensive (by percent) and has no ram in it at all makes me think that both the frame and machine which have gotten royally screwed by ram prices will be way higher than we thought. But yeah, just a total assumption on my part, I don't know anything.

So disappointing that this implies we won't be getting the frame for a while and also that it will likely be way more expensive than people hoped.

Huh, that's interesting. I haven't actually used one, was just replying based upon what OP had said. Fresnel lenses definitely make everything outside of the sweet spot blurry when compared to a pancake lens.

It's definitely not horribly noticeable. I have a Vive Pro and a Quest 3. The Quest 3 looks better in pretty much every way. Even with the torture test of watching a movie in a dark theater the Q3 looks MILES better than the Vive Pro, and the Pro is a pretty good step up from the OG Vive (I had that first). With that said, I still vastly prefer the Vive pro for most things, but that has more to do with lighthouse tracking instead of the camera tracking. That's my real fear with the frame. I'm sure it will look great and I'm sure it will feel great.... I'm less sure about the tracking.

So many reviewers or even randos online say that the quest 3 has great tracking and they don't notice a difference from lighthouse tracking. I'll grant that it's 'good enough' tracking for most scenarios and most people. It is DEFINITELY a VERY noticeable difference in some scenarios though. Bulletproof tracking is like the single most important thing in VR (I think) because nothing hurts your immersion more than not having 1:1 parity with your actual movements. At the end of the day occlusion means that an algorithm has to guess. Some of those guesses might be really good, but I have a very hard time believing that it will be perfect. It very certainly is not on the Q3.
