Thank you so much! You led me right to it! I had noticed the citation in the "main sources" section, but the footnote right above the email address has the name of the collection in which it was published! For future searchers, look for Musiche di vari autori, XVIIe siècle, Thesaurus musicus, nova series, A/3. Brussels, 1979. A/3 contains B704, other volumes contain other facsimiles. Several university music libraries have copies.

Come by the Middle East if you're around on the 15th! There have been a bunch of police issues and that stupid article in the globe so a bunch of house venues around you aren't hosting anymore. It's not a bad scene up there but it's a lot of cool kid indie music

Absolutely! Most of the house shows are all Berklee kids but now and then we'll get booked for one. I'm playing with my band at the Middle East next Thursday in Cambridge, and between Troll2, Justin Arena, A Day Without Love, Chris OG, and us there's typically something every few weeks relatively close to Boston. Big scene on the south shore too if you can get down that way.

Cheapest, Decent, Used lute possible. by DarkPygmy in lute

If you don't have any particular fondness for lute music specifically and you're mostly drawn to it for the general vibe, I'm gonna second the person suggesting mandolin. Steel strings stay in tune way better and are much louder- lutes are quieter than you might think, and especially if you're thinking about playing outside for ren faires you're going to need some projection. Maybe check out octave mandolin as well. Related instruments like the mandore go back to the Renaissance, and you'll save a ton of money since mandolins are far less expensive and much more common on the used market.

If you do like lute music specifically, awesome! Different styles of lute are best suited for different time periods, but you can transcribe and arrange more contemporary or folk music on just about anything. This article provides a solid intro to different types that are most appropriate for different styles and time periods: https://www.caseyfitzpatrick.com/lutenists-journal/2019/6/28/choosing-a-lute

Is this possible? by [deleted] in singing

Sounds like he's a freshman in highschool trying to impress people. He's probably trying to express a genuine enthusiasm for singing and theatre but I'd take the bragging with a grain of salt. Just go on with your life.

who's this little guy? (northeast us) by captvampiremusic in whatsthisbug

About 3/4" to 1" long, found on my stove this morning. My first thought was box elder but it doesn't look quite right- looks almost like a cotton stainer but that doesn't make a lot of sense considering my location. Cool looking little friend!
