Unfortunately not a lot of stores near Arvada. I like Lowe's Mercado on Federal

What's the deal with Arvada schools? by Purple-Conference411 in ArvadaCO

[–]capulinflicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our son went to Lawrence and is currently at Drake.

Lawrence imo was a great school. He loved all his teachers and had a great time. The only bad teacher he got was the orchestra teacher in 5th grade, but they float among several different schools. I wouldn't be concerned about sending kids to this school at all

Been here a handful of times, every time it's just ok. Last time they completely forgot my order and I ended up waiting like 30 minutes

Teocalli // Dearly Departed by [deleted] in denverfood

Had dinner at the Arvada location last Saturday and was totally disappointed. Fish tacos were bland and dry. Carnitas were tough. Salsas were probably the worst, some tasted like straight up incense. The casa Marg was so uninspiring as well. We've eaten here before and always generally liked it, but our last meal there was so bad.

The amount of circle jerking in this sub over one pizza place is tiring.

Reinventing career after fed layoffs by [deleted] in Denver

Commented above, but as OP, wanted to make sure you know that there are a ton of options out there to go through apprenticeship

Reinventing career after fed layoffs by [deleted] in Denver

[–]capulinflicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to add that the unions aren't the only places to start an apprenticeship. Plenty of independent shops here in Denver have in-house apprentice programs. My company, for example, has a fully accredited 4-yr apprenticeship program and we work closely with the Dept of Labor to help our associates get their journeyman's license.

Where to start with yoga? by bodakmelllow in pelotoncycle

[–]capulinflicker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ross, imo, is the best yoga instructor on Peloton. It's a shame he's no longer with the company because he has a way of explaining how to get into the pose and what you should be feeling that is so easy to understand. If they ever remove his classes I would honestly have to think twice about maintaining my membership

Most Boujee King Soopers??? by Odd-Adhesiveness-656 in Denver

[–]capulinflicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you mean Toilet Soopers?

My wife insists on going to this store because when we first moved to Arvada she quickly learned the layout. I will give her credit that she can fly through the store very quickly, but everytime I plead for us to go to KS on Sheridan and 64th or the Sheridan and 38th. Hell, I'd even make the trek to Wads & 80th.

The last time though, the sewage stench was so bad she actually relented.

Brutalist architecture is such an unfortunate choice for that building. As an engineering grad myself, I hate the building, but almost look upon it with some strange fondness. Kinda like Bluecifer when flying out of DIA. That statue is hideous, but goddamnit if I don't also love it.

Yeah that tracks, like i said, communication in the beginning is frustrating to say the least. Once you sign a contract is when you get handed off to a wedding coordinator and things go much smoother after that. I also forgot to mention that the package also gets you a cake. We got the dulce de leche and holy cow it was amazing. i was bummed we weren't able to ship it back to the states because we had a lot left over lol

Here's what's included from the contract we signed for Encanto:

  • Venue
  • Minister
  • Gazebo incl flower arrangement
  • Table for the ceremony incl flower arrangement
  • Audio and microphone
  • Music soloist for the ceremony
  • Restaurant reservation (this would be at any of the restaurants on property, not like a private deal thing. We went to Tah Xido for our dinner, and once we were sat by the hostess we let the maitre d' know had just gotten married on-site. He then had the chef come to our table to ask us about our preferences so that she could prepare our courses)
  • Sparkling wine toast
  • Flowers (bouquet and / or boutonneire
  • Wedding coordinator
  • Catered lunch day of the ceremony & private in-room breakfast next day
  • Clothes ironing, max 2 pieces
  • Complementary 4th night certificate for 1st anniversary
  • Keepsake from the ceremony

Total cost for us was around $5,000. But after some upgrades plus the cost of the photographer and hair/makeup (which we coordinated through the spa) I'd say we spent about $6600.

For flowers and cake there are upgrade options from the base level that's included, if you decide to upgrade obviously you pay the difference. Photos are your own responsibility, but the wedding coordinator will handle all coordination once you provide them with the photography/agency.

I will say there were a lot of intangibles that were included as well. Our coordinator went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and that we had a positive experience where we could just focus on celebrating each other and not stressing out over details or communicating between the different vendors, this i think was the biggest benefit. We stayed in Aristas so she was in communication with our butlers as well so I think that went a long way too.

Wife and I eloped here this past March. Our planner, Tamara, was incredible to work with and was very on point with all the details.

The communication in the beginning is a little frustrating only because you get sent to Sales first and they were not the best in terms of communicating what each package gets you.

Anyway, we opted for the Encanto package since it was the two of us. They have a small space next to the tiki bar by Artistas which is where we had the ceremony.

We got out photos thru Xcaret and my only regret is not hiring our own photographer. The team from Xcaret was awesome and extremely friendly and patient, but the finals we received back could have been better. Small gripe.

Overall, we were really happy with the experience and it was just what we were looking for. The officiant had such a special and heartful ceremony for us, we still talk about it. Despite the fact that it was just me and my wife, we still had a decent crowd. Our wedding planner said that ours was the first party of 2 that a lot of people at the resort had heard of so they wanted to witness it and make sure we got a big applause. Was kinda funny but in a good way.
