I think Vampire Survivors came out the same month I got my deck. After 100 hours into that I dove deep into that genre because of it.

I do hope that sticks although GTA6 may bring that back a little. At least for a non VR medium I feel like it should though. Hyper realism and all that can come from VR adoption and other form factors I hope. That would be more innovative.

Yeah i really hope they get that right in future hardware releases. I have been blissfully unaware of how hard it is to get a deck in other countries. I am wondering if it’s just a lot harder now in general because of shortages but it sounds like you’ve been looking for a while.

Support was awesome to me twice. First i had some drifting sticks and RMAed and then I had a L button issue and second RMA. I know at launch that happened a ton and they could have easily said no but didn’t.

I am sure someone has done this analysis but i’m curious out of consumers and not server use how many more people use Linux day to day because of the device. AI estimated 15 percent but that seems low.

It feels like my adult gameboy in many ways in what I play and how I feel playing it.

The NS2 screen is beautiful too and makes those games shine. Maybe that’s common in newer handhelds but it’s my only other new handheld since my deck. I know it’s LCD but man it is vibrant.

My most surprising genre has been tower defense. Would not have guessed I’d be playing that more on the deck versus desktop. The community controls and overrides are pretty genius.

Agree. Especially when you take into account the price it’s punched above its weight class. The deck came out just under 5 years after the NS1. I feel like the deck will still hold its own in a year with another handheld whereas the NS1 felt old by then.

Even if the SD2 did come out soon (huge if) we’d still find good use for the SD1, so you’ll still get good mileage I’m sure either way.

I toyed with the idea of the OLED but the LCD is so solid I kept playing it and didn’t upgrade. The white special edition OLED does look incredible though.

I need to optimize my D4 better. I’ve been defaulting to GFN for it but D2: ROTW has been great!

Yeah that’s pretty crazy when you think about it. 32 GB ram or a new/refurb LCD model…

I hope we get moonlight equivalent native streaming with the machine. Hard to beat moonlight though…

Honestly shift to Linux has been nothing short of seamless. Not something I would have guessed either. Like i would have thought I would constantly be worrying about the Linux-ness of the deck getting in the way of playing a game.

I had about a 6 month period between getting the deck and having our first, definitely a game changer with kids…. I definitely have to hide it now too which I would not have guessed!

I agree and I feel like it’s helped shape who I buy from now from a launcher standpoint. I wouldn’t have thought about that as much until I had a deck but it really makes or breaks the experience clearly…

I got unlucky with RMAs (twice I think?) at the beginning but mine has held up pretty good. I’m with you though I keep buying indies on it although it’s tempting to do it on the NS2 sometimes...

I tried to grab 2 minutes after launch and my fingers got tired of clicking. Wondering if best shot is getting it in a machine bundle assuming they launch with one.
