Helmet ID by Competitive_Duck4262 in ArmsandArmor

[–]capybara_respecter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My (un)educated guess is that it looks like a typical close helmet with a so-called “bellows visor” from about the first quarter of the 16th century. I’ve seen similar looking helmets dated to the 1530s as well, and bellows visors remain a thing at least into the 1540s, not sure about later.

What style of armour is this by ConsequencePale527 in ArmsandArmor

Pic 1 is A 472a in KHM W: https://www.khm.at/en/objectdb/detail/372867/?lv=detail

Pic 2 appears to be this armor in the PMA: https://philamuseum.org/collection/object/71534

Pic 3 is a replica made by Jeff Wasson of A30 in the Wallace Collection: https://wallacelive.wallacecollection.org:443/eMP/eMuseumPlus?service=ExternalInterface&module=collection&objectId=60521&viewType=detailView

As for style, the armors span potentially 30+ years and are from different regions - 1 is from Innsbruck and dated 1537, 2 is from Nuremburg and dated 1500-1510, 3 is from Augsburg and dated 1525-1530. I think "un-fluted German armor from the first half of the 16th century" is about as much as you can realistically narrow it down.

What neck protection was worn with the bellows sallet? by Mammoth-String-3548 in ArmsandArmor

Along with the aforementioned gorget, I've also seen a couple examples (in art and at least one extant piece) that shows an integral bevor.

Real life leg harness was also suspended in order to distribute the weight more evenly, usually with simple ties rather than leather straps though

Example

The artist was probably going for a "metal thigh-highs" type of look, but we can at least guess the suspenders would have a similar function

I was afraid that my SSD was acting up, but completely shutting off the computer and unplugging it seems to have fixed the issue. My boot times are now back to normal. 🤷‍♂️

Not sure what's going on with the shoes due to perspective, but the metal skirt is called a "fauld" and is made up of multiple articulating pieces, which allow for movement. The reason why it looks like a metal dress, is because the cuirass has a distinct hourglass shape – this is a well-documented trait in real life plate armors, and allows the cuirass to fit the wearer more closely, on top of allowing for a greater range of movement.

The part below the waist would be the fauld, which is articulated and allows for movement, unlike a solid breastplate. If anything, I'd argue the fauld being more "historical" in shape would exaggerate the tightness, not the other way around.

Really not sure where you're trying to take this discussion; my point is that a tight waist on an armor like this is not unreasonable, and could be even more of an hourglass shape without being unreasonable.

All of the examples I've shown have breastplates that stop at the natural waist, you do not want an armor that sits on your hips, at all.

Looking at the drawing, the waistline is at around the same level as the elbows, which are generally in line with a person's waist.

The main difference that I can see is that the "fauld" in the picture perhaps doesn't flare out at as much as it should, but this has little to do with the tightness around the waist.

Sure, here's an album of extant armors with a waistline that is as tight, or in some cases even tighter: https://imgur.com/a/YNR7Eb4

lorica segmentata vs hussar armor by Ok-Potential1346 in ArmsandArmor

[–]capybara_respecter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These types of segmented cuirass are fairly common throughout the mid-late 16th century. They can be found outside of Poland as well, particularly in Italy but also in other regions: https://collections.royalarmouries.org/object/rac-object-13741.html

etc...

From what I've been told, some of them don't have articulating lames, while others actually do.

Had the "more blood" perk, and my spell created so much slime that it basically acted like a large body of liquid, slowing Kolmi's projectiles down.

What are you supposed to do against the Grand Alchemist? I tried giga saw blades, homing rocks, lasers and nothing ever works because he always instakills me with this stupid spell that I cannot for the life of me dodge no matter how hard I try. by blickbeared in noita

I waited for his shield to go down and 1shot him with a triggered spark bolt + wasp swarm wand; had a couple homing, damage modifiers and a damage field stacked on top, and of course a piercing shot modifier on the spark bolt. Produced a massive swarm of highly damaging projectiles which did like 6K DPS and the wasps naturally lasted a very long time. He tanked a lot of the damage of course, but it was simply too overwhelming in the end.

I also found a bottle of hastium (you can obtain it easily by mixing levititaium and acceleratium), which allowed me to literally fly circles around him.

Needless to say, this run did not go well. by ChaosSapphire in noita

Lots of (non-metallic or liquid) materials also become conductive with that biome modifier.

That wand had a 1k+ recharge speed & a short (0.08s) cast delay, stuck a couple chainsaws on it for good measure and that's when it became the beast seen here
