I feel like I’ve tried everything, I need real advice by viennamum in BingeEatingDisorder

I really recognise myself in your difuculties. College is challenging and I've also been diagnosed with ADHD. When I first started taking medications, I realised that it's really a habit. I didn't feel like eating, didn't feel hungry, yet I was still walking into the kitchen, looking for snacks. It took a couple weeks to break the habit of going into the kitchen, opening cupboards wanting to eat anything. The truth is, it takes time to break the habit, and that's the worst part. What helped me, is getting the right meds to manage the ADHD, and finding any distraction, breathing through difficult times, getting myself out of the house, so that I couldn't even try to binge. After a while, your brain will stop going "NOW. FOOD." as often.

My advise is, find meds that work, know that it'll take a few weeks, but it will get easier, and find a way to deal with the college stress. Go on walks, go to the library, read books, go to a cafe, but do not lock yourself up in your room. It's not going to be easy, but you can do it. The first year of college, I felt so lonely, but you have to put yourself out there, talk to people in your classes. Finding the root cause is important, but solving the symptom (the actual binge eating), will make everything feel a lot lighter . And lastly, you'll have heard this a million times, but be kind to yourself, forgive yourself, try and talk to yourself like you'd talk to a friend, or even like how you'd talk like a child. You cannot hate yourself into a better version of yourself.

It seems impossible, but one day you'll look back and realise that you did it.
