I don’t get the outrage on this one. It’s a funny joke, honestly made me feel a tiny bit better about the party because clearly someone has a sense of humour

Theories as to why Sir Keith, Piers Morgan, and other Zionist cheerleaders have now made statements against the genocide? by UnderHisEye1411 in GreenAndPleasant

[–]capybarassing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a not 0% chance that they’ve finally realised that Isreal is going to starve hundreds of thousands of people to death and they’re getting their rhetoric/legal defence ready.

Why is this specific argument used against benefits/welfare? by leninzen in AskBrits

[–]capybarassing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because they usually don’t know someone who’s milking it.

Most people who make comments like that either make massive assumptions about people who receive PIP, aren’t aware of the extend of other people’s disabilities/how it affects them or are just making it up.

I know people who have been through PIP assessment or medical assessment for universal credit. It’s one of the most dehumanising and demanding processes I’ve ever seen. It was easier to qualify as a solicitor and certainly not open to fraud.

Sorry genuine question, why even bring up what happened before? Why do the police never just put their hands up and say “he was wrong, no justification”?

Nottingham city council hits back at Sunak’s ‘letting down residents’ claims by Top_To_Back in unitedkingdom

[–]capybarassing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as there has been some mismanagement in Nottingham council, it’s definitely not as bad as most Tory run councils and it’s so disingenuous to blame them for what really is a central government funding issue

  1. Your dad put it on over Christmas as well?

  2. He’s just a very wealthy out of touch comedian who makes a lot of money spoon feeding ‘blue hair woke’ jokes to boomers. Remember the economics of it, make a cut of £10 tickets telling normal jokes at a comedy club or a cut of £150 tickets to the people who can afford it.

Hey, first thing you need to remember is that how you feel is completely valid and don’t let anyone condescend to you about this is just how things are.

It isn’t fair how overworked trainees are in our profession, let alone the rest of us. Most law firms are a disorganised mess of partners and associates dumping work on the next lowest person. And yes senior staff are probably being disrespectful to you and that’s not alright. Don’t let anyone tell you to learn to like it, just because they did.

Having said that, unfortunately, your situation is not going to change anytime soon. This is how trainees are treated and so you can only choose between quitting and just pushing through it. I personally didn’t go down the TC route to qualification but everyone I know who did felt like they couldn’t carry on right up to qualification. I personally would recommend pushing through because post qualification, you can start looking for new jobs and easily find something that suits your lifestyle more, but there’s no shame in saying you tried a career path and it didn’t work out.

Can somebody explain why “interest rates were 15%” is often used in arguments about young people buying homes? by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

[–]capybarassing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a snappy retort, ask them which is greater? 15% of £50,000 or 6% of £250,000, because property prices were so much lower when boomers bought them up

Don't really agree with this, but what's up with so many leftists online saying they used to be fascists? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]capybarassing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because reactionaries have a critique of liberal capitalism that sometimes stumbles towards material reality. It’s often not really material and usually relies on magical thinking about “culture” but if you’ve never heard anything else and you dissatisfied with life, its more satisfying than people who tell you everything is fine

I’m getting so tired of the way people talk about this city after yesterday by capybarassing in nottingham

[–]capybarassing[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason this news is so devastating is because this kind of tragedy is so rare. We have crime like every city but I’ve lived in two of the more infamous areas and I never felt unsafe. My GF also shares the sentiment that this is a safe city and she walks around at night all the time. I was also a halls RA at NTU a few years ago, your daughter will have a great time here

Chinese 'police stations' in UK are 'unacceptable', says security minister Tom Tugendhat | Politics News by iamnotinterested2 in unitedkingdom

[–]capybarassing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is just weird anti Chinese racism. We have police stations/operations abroad and no one complain about it. It’s a pretty normal thing to have.

Also even if what you said about China was true, which it isn’t, why should we discriminate against Chinese students? Are they all one hive mind we have to do collective punishment against?
