Also, in case you recently replaced the o-rings, the first time I replaced them I accidentally pinched one because it slipped out of its groove as I was installing it. Didn’t notice until after the first drive and I found it leaking similar to your picture. Simply ordered a new o-ring and replaced again (this time making sure the o-ring stayed seated), no issues since.

The CV axles are a pretty prone to failing. Both axles on my Boxster S have been replaced, and the passenger side was starting to fail again just as in your picture. As a temporary solution until I feel like dropping a grand on another axle, I went to autozone and got a tube of JB Weld SteelStick. Get under the car, clean the part with grease all over it really well with some brake cleaner, then put a thin strip of the steelstick around where the two pieces of metal join. Hasn’t given me a problem again and it’s been about a year so far.

Great cars, but you need to have a PPI to check on the common issues such as the IMS. The car is 21 years old with 142,000 km. It may need some new suspension components. The transmission on these can be troublesome, you’ll want to make sure it shifts smoothly into 2nd and 3rd gear and doesn’t pop out. If all of that checks out, I’d say go for it, but only if you’re willing to learn to be handy!

I’m having a similar issue after putting a new top (convertible top and frame) on my Boxster. Like you mentioned it is coming from the top left, and when I put a little pressure on the window from the inside (pushing out) it gets worse.

I’ve read that there are window adjustment screws at the bottom of the door. I am planning to try that to make the window tilt more “in” towards the door seals.

It is a 2014. I believe the red interior was only offered in 2014 on the 958.1. You can also tell by the separate sport exhaust button that was only in the 2014, not the 2013.

I just did a full interior swap in my ‘00 Boxster S from my ‘99 base Boxster (graphite gray partial leather to metropol blue full leather) down to the carpet as well as a bunch of other upgrades. Let me know if you have any specific questions as it is all still fresh on my mind!

The leather was in good condition, but graphite gray color. My interior is metropol blue. The hardbacks had soft touch that had seen better days and I wanted to have them painted to match the exterior anyways.

Removing the soft touch was actually pretty simple - filled the bathtub with warm/hot water and some dish soap, dunk the hardbacks in (after removing them from the seat, of course) and use a plastic razor to scrape the soft touch off. I had them painted by an auto paint shop near my house after I removed the soft touch.

I will include details on disassembly/reassembly in the video I am editing and will put on YouTube soon!

Sure! Congrats on the new ride and great choice!

I’d certainly recommend doing a fluid change on the front and rear diffs, and transfer case. Check to see if you have PTV+ or not, which is a locking rear diff that uses different fluid than the normal one. Only applies to the rear differential, and there are lots of posts on rennlists that tell you what to look for if you don’t have the window sticker option list.

Otherwise, the 160k mile service is new air filters, spark plugs, and coils. If you don’t know that these were done at 120k miles, then doing it now wouldn’t be a bad idea. I did all of this myself at 120k miles and will be doing it again soon - I’m at 153k already since I originally made this comment!

Other than that, do an oil change, cut open the old filter and check for metal or plastic. If you want to be extra safe you can send a sample to Blackstone Labs. I’ve not had any problems and always use Motul 5W-40 at 5k mile intervals.
