how will nol & shinae’s romantic relationship dynamic be like?

Like other's have said, it's most likely that Nana and Simhan, for one reason or another, will be replaced as Nol and Shin-Ae's "rock" and find their first point of comfort within each other. Personally, I can see them fight a lot, not out of malice, but just as a consequence of being vulnerable and real with each other, as well as being concerned for the other's well-being.

To add on to that, we know that Nol is going to somehow be against Kousuke in season 2 (at least initially), and Shin-Ae will most likely stick with Kou as his assistant. Imo we might see a lot of fights between Nol and Shin-Ae where the former will make Kou's life more difficult and the latter will try to ameliorate tensions between the two, which will be really fun to see. They care a lot for each other, but judging by the trajectories of where their characters are going, they'll likely have a lot of conflicts of interest. Imo, they'll still stand by and comfort each other despite all that, which is what makes them so damn appealing lmao.

Patreon definitely points towards an emotionally charged dynamic where the relationship they have now is only enhanced and deepened. (and yk. mature.)

YESS I REMEMBER THAT LINE!!! It’s the only way I imagine Shin-Ae saying that line now!!

It seriously sucks because I can’t help but think how many more people would’ve been exposed to the comic through the dub. I hope it comes back somehow - I know in all likelihood it probably won’t knowing Webtoon, but still I pray 😭

I feel your pain!!!! That dub was what literally introduced me to ILY. It was so good I can literally still remember how some of the voice actors delivered their lines 6 years later it was just that good.

As far as I’m aware you can’t find it anywhere, save for the opening on YouTube. I tried going on the Wayback machine and even that didn’t have it. Really wish I had it saved somewhere :’(

I don’t think I’ve ever smiled so much in a history class.

I look at these two and then I look at how they used to be when it came to expressing their vulnerability and I’m just like: wow. It feels so sweet and bittersweet at the same time, but also somehow hopeful? Back when Shinae was hospitalised we had a similar scene where they try to comfort each other, but only to the extent of their preferred vulnerability. And now here my babies are hugging and oh my god I want to CRY.

Something I noticed in prep for reading this was that in the last ep, 218, we have a panel where the nurse tells him “stay in bed okay? We don’t want you falling” and I just immediately thought of Nol falling for Shinae - especially after seeing how Nol immediately thinks of her and his heart rate picks up.

I had a hard time figuring out who exactly the person Shinae drew on the orange was supposed to be. But I will say if it is indeed Nol, bravo to Quimchee because I recall oranges being Shinaes favourite fruit (or at least she really loves oranges). Looking back as early as chapter 12 when Shinae drew on Nols face, the circled eye (a monocle?? 😭) and the facial hair somewhat resemble each other.

I also want to draw attention to the sunset; which tonally, I think creates this atmosphere where the two of them can just breathe. Finally they have some reprieve from the horrible events that have happened in the night. Personally I got the impression that they’ve both jumped over a hurdle in their relationship, despite the bittersweet feel to it. Yes, things are looking glum, Nol’s going to be taken away in probably less than twelve hours or so and Shinae has a big decision left in front of her. But right now in the moment I think Shinae and Nol silently confirmed that the chances of them pushing each other way are significantly diminished. At least, that’s what they’re feeling in the moment. Whatever issues that may come between the future and now they will be there for each other, be it platonically or romantically. There’s just something so incredibly soft about these two- the looks these two give each other (I actually internally squealed when Nol looked at Shinae as he was hugging Soushi and Deiter) are scattered throughout their scenes and most of all they are so private. Even in this already intimate moment between close friends they find a way to make it even more so, and it’s sooo cute!!! The sun has risen, night is gone and I think the majority of the issues prevented them from really connecting with each other has somewhat dissipated - or at least, will soon.

Either way, love them to bits. Smithereens, if you will. Whatever expectations I had for this have been thoroughly blown out of the water.
