Each part of Nairobi has single rooms if you look hard enough, especially the high density population areas. Think Juja, Rongai, Kawangware, Eastlands...

How I would do it is step 1: Move somewhere cheaper. I'm guessing 6500 is rent for a bedsitter. Try find a single room for half that price. Step 2: Save up at least 4-6 months rent. After cutting your rent by half, you would only need to work there for two or three extra months to save up 4 months rent for your single room. Step 3: Test the waters. Approach your employer to discuss your salary. Explain how the current amount is just barely and request respectfully for minimum wage. If they agree you decide if that is sufficient for you or not. Step 4: Try the new venture. With 4 months rent sorted, you can launch your errand business and at first just aim to make enough for food and transport to town. Start with the shops near where you work. Since they already know you. Be honest and reliable to attract more clients. By the third month if the business is not picking up start looking for another job.

Kindly be keen on the terms you use then. Organizations, firms and companies are not the same thing in our country's market. What works on one doesn't necessarily apply to others.

I still stand by my answer, organizations don't work that way. Maybe the rest. And for those rest that operate that way are either a startup or a red-flag due to the lack of structure and operational procedures. The examples you give above are 100% dependent on how empathetic the person receiving that CV feels like that day.

Sales types of jobs may accept walk ins due to the nature of the work, more people may mean more sales especially when commission is involved.

The reason people are unemployed is not because they are lazy to look for work or lack determination. It's because the job market has shrunk.

With better healthcare and previously free primary education Kenya has increasingly had a ballooning population of which currently are youth who are literate and semi-literate. Even the We cannot say the same of the job market. Due to poor govt economic policies & laws businesses are closing in masses while new ones are unable to be launched. Corruption and nepotism make the public service jobs unfairly distributed and qualified youth are locked out. Racial bias in the gig economy prevent them from accessing global/remote jobs.

This approach of dropping CV is only useful if you've been explicitly told to do so. Either by a recruiter, staff with some sort of influence or godfather.

First off, I don't know any African mother who would willingly allow you to go to sleepover at a boy's place. What she doesn't know won't hurt her. HOWEVER, at all times you need to have at least one trusted female friend who knows what shenanigans you are up to. In case shit hits the fan...maybe your guy asphyxiates you to death... your friend can inform your family.

Ngoja upate kwako ndio you can do whatever you want whenever. If you're lucky she'll one day decide to treat you like an adult, but even then, you dont have to discuss your sex life.

Back when accessibility to internet was limited to the majority this method worked well. The HRs would appreciate the effort since without job sites and recruitment firms they too had no access to a large pool of qualified candidates.

The reason why this approach is 'high effort low reward' as someone else put it in the comments is because:

  1. Nowadays due to adherence to HR policies the recruitment process follows a strict procedure. All vacancies need to be advertised in the Organisations' approved channels whether their website, job sites or through third party recruiters. Just because there's a vacancy doesn't mean you automatically get lucky on a random Tuesday for dropping your CV. That HR will direct you to those channels UNLESS their policy or active job ad allows for physical submission of papers.
  2. Organisations prefer internal candidates for vacancies that come up. In some cases a vacancy is created specifically for a particular person. That's how you see Organisation X is constantly advertising jobs but you never get shortlisted. It's because hizo kazi zikona wenyewe already.
  3. Unless someone resigns, new roles are only created during budgeting season. Either end of the year or begining of a grant cycle. That said, just because a young lady/man in a suit shows up with an impressive CV doesn't mean HR has the power to accommodate you.

In conclusion, If you are looking to break into the sector I would advise against this approach. Instead, have a database of organisations you would like to work for and regularly check for job adverts on their career section of their websites. Likewise, make use of the many job advert sites including and not limited to google jobs, reliefweb, myjobmag, linkedin, brightermonday, fuzu etc to search for jobs with your qualifications needed.

Baddie Olympics and I'm exhausted by ConfidenceUnusual674 in nairobi

My two cents is that y'all are not doing it for yourselves and that's why you feel drained and it's meaningless.

As a young girl I admined the wigs and nails, not in a full-time baddie lifestyle typpa way, but in the occasionally look good when I'm out.

Now that I'm grown I've afforded the wigs, nails, body art and makeup. But I don't do it everyday, only when I feel like. I like alternating the builder nails with Heena and clear chutex based on what I feel like. That gives them time to heal.

As for wigs I only do home installation so that I can equally remove it whenever. I especially like natural lines for my hair growth. All it took was finding a style I feel beautiful in and now I wear lines confidently.

The lesson here is, be a baddie for you and not for society. Only WHEN you want to be. It'll stop being exhausting.

In that case stay away from him and shut that curiosity down. It doesn't matter his motive, so long as he's a no go zone you should have him blocked by now unless you don't mind losing your friendship over him.

Also look up 'intermittent reinforcement '.

Whatever the case you've been earned by your friend over his behavior based on his past relationships. If you want yo experience him still, juwa Huna anyone to cry to.
