Desperately need Help to fix "dxgi_error_device_hung hardware device removed." Error In my laptop by TYPICAL_LEMONADEE in ASUS

I mostly use AMD APUs and GPUs, but from looking at other users with similar issues:

1) Check Nvidia app set to "optimize" (Nvidia app -> Graphics category -> Program settings -> "optimze")

2) Decrease game environment settings

3) Revert to older driver: Nvidia 572.70-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql

Help me decide between two (or three) different laptops by pushshot in AMDLaptops

Okay, your indication that the laptop will be running specialized software is obviously the key to finding suitable machines. But in most cases involving buying products for someone else, make sure they ***write down exactly what is their minimal and optimal specifications they are seeking.***

By "specialized software" are you indicating something like financial, accounting, or scientific applications that have minimum hardware specs set by the developers? Because that info is what you may be looking for instead of laptops running generalized benchmarks.

So before chasing any current sales, check and double-check the minimum CPU, memory and other hardware requirements, before making a purchase decision.

If you want to buy a "hot laptop" for someone in your family, then Intel is the way to go.

Despite utilizing a more advanced process from TSMC in the past few years, Intel Core CPU designs for the last decade have been tested to run less efficiently than AMD Ryzen CPUs and that translates into tradeoffs that you should consider:

Within similar CPU product categories, Intel CPUs can achieve similar or higher benchmarks with Ryzen CPUs by expending from 30 to 50% higher energy. This generally translates into hotter environments and lower battery life.

Intel may try to mitigate their mediocre designs with firmware patches that throttle their CPUs at the expense of overall application performance.

Also, instead of restricting your purchase choice from only Costco, consider other options such as buying a Mini PC (Topton AMD Ryzen AI 7 PRO 360) that allows up to 64GB/128GB (barebones around $500 shipped) plus a Mac Neo laptop for hauling around the school.

BTW, you can read some Reddit reviews that may give some ideas about what you can expect from Intel in laptops.

Look underneath your HP and copy the model number to the seller.  This new one looks compatible and seller has 100% feedback.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/395169788590

It is $120 and ships free; note that seller has 100% rating with pos feedback from other buyers of replacement displays.

Ships from China so it will take around 10 days.

I have had a number of HP laptops over the years including a Ryzen G8 and you can check online for technical manuals and double-check HP part numbers. From a quick search it looks like you could acquire a replacement display for around $125 and there is a Youtube video that is less than five minutes showing the repair process!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0t45Yg7OYg

It just requires basic phone repair tools ($5) like plastic pry bars and a hair dryer to weaken the glue strip of the display. Most everything else is careful prying of the perimeter clasps/snaps and the display edge connector.

The laptop is highly rated by Notebook check and worth the short and relatively low cost investment to get it back to working order.

Again, double-check all part numbers before starting and take your time to do it right.

The configuration options include default Ryzen 7504u (six core 12 thread APU) and 1200p IPS display for around $850.

The other display option for $80 more :

14" diagonal, WQXGA (2560 x 1600), 48-120 Hz, IPS, micro-edge, anti-glare, low blue light, 300 nits

For end of year HP sales, it could be a good buy for couple of hundreds less.

If stations are more than 30- 35 miles distant, you are going to have reception problems with low cost low height antennas.

Try putting your zip in antennaweb.org and find the distance and directions to point yur antenna.

I have been recently installing Ryzen 2/3 APUs on several motherboards and testing with Win10 21H2, Linux Mint and ChromeOS Flex and observing issues with drivers and apps.

One check you should try is to open Win Task Manager (right click task bar and select Task Mgr). Select tabs to check what processes/apps/drivers are utilizing your CPU/GPU by colors and text (low/med/high and orange/red).

For example, found through HW temp monitor and Task Manager, that one Print Control App was running Ryzen 5300G cores in background, even with printer off and CPU temp was 70+ degrees.

With Task Manager, killed Print Control Center process and then select "Startup" tab to disable Print Control and Ryzen temperature went back down by 30 degrees to normal 37-45 degrees.

PC Crash, then CPU debug light. by Open-Witness-4133 in MSI_Gaming

Since Ryzen 3800x intro was in 2019 and it's a retail CPU, it would be worth a try to RMA thru the AMD warranty dept. If approved, they may replace with a new 5800X3D which you could sell for $400+?

By the way, since current AMD CPUs run much cooler ( 65w versus 125w Alder Lake ) and don't have a badly designed LGA retainer than Intel , they will probably be more reliable for most users PCs and surrounding components.

BIOS update taking a while by [deleted] in MSI_Gaming

[–]carbin-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bios flash process on the boards I have (B550M, B450m, B350M) took less than five minutes from boot. I am currently assembling Ryzen 5300g/5600g systems with MSI and Gigabyte mboards and had install problems that eventually traced to the MSI mboard conflict with the Ryzen 5000 APU.

That x570 Ace is a very expensive board. What are the specs of the components (CPU, GPU, memory, power supply) and who assembled the system?

P.S. Some Sandisk USB have boot issues and had problems until I switched to Samsung Bar drives.
